Arguments, that convince you, strong atheism is true. If you are not a strong atheist, but a weak one, don't argue with this question. its not for you. Its for the ones, that positively assert, most probably God does not exist. Please don't base it on a negative ( the bible is worthless etc....), but positive arguments, which do make strong atheism stand on its own right.

Permalink Reply by Wintershade3001 on January 10, 2012 at 8:49pm Yes, I have. I have answered that question when you first asked me. And the reason is the same. I'm sorry if that doesn't feed your hunger for attention, but that is my reason.
When you repeated the question, I have stated that the question has previously been answered.
And now you claim that I haven't answered it. So you lie again.
Permalink Reply by Angelo on January 10, 2012 at 8:57pm you might have answered it, but i don't remember. do you mind to answer it again ?
Permalink Reply by Wintershade3001 on January 10, 2012 at 9:12pm Wait. You don't remember something that happened yesterday???
And yes, I do mind. I do mind, because I made a post where I presented a few questions, which you (as expected) refused to answer. And now you ask me to answer your question twice.
Instead of being honest and answering those questions, you concluded that my exposing of your hideous lies "ended our dialog here". Although you ended the dialogue, I still found the time to answer your supposed question ("why am I debating you?") at that time.
Now, if you were a decent person (and you are apparently trying really hard to leave the opposite impression), you would have skimmed through the thread and looked for the answer yourself.
But of course, you are not. Why would you do something when somebody else can do it instead of you? My answer to your "question" is here: http://bit.ly/zn1HKx
...which proves that this
you have not answered my question. If i am a liar, why do you waste your time with me ?
was just another one of your blatant lies.

The silliness of this has made my day. Thank you.

Permalink Reply by cameron penney on January 10, 2012 at 2:49am I am a strong Atheist for a few reasons. I think that believing anything from the Bible is akin to believing in Santa Claus. The Stories are excellent works of fiction or fantasy and that is about it. Religion gives people false hope. What I mean by that is, people pray for a bad situation to get better instead of taking action to better the situation. Religion has and still does hinder progress. Finally, look at all the death, war, and destruction that religion has caused. From the crusades to 9/11 people have died be cause of ridiculous beliefs. That id why I am an Atheist.
Permalink Reply by sway austin on January 10, 2012 at 4:53am A bit off topic, but even from a fictitious standpoint I've always found most of the stories in the Bible to be boring. Probably because they sound so dated. Muti-headed beasts and the like. Whenever I read Revelations I tend to feel like Sinbad is going to pop out at any moment and start taking care of business.
Permalink Reply by Artor on January 10, 2012 at 9:49pm I am in perfect agreement there. Some people try to present the bible as a work of great literature, and I can only shake my head in wonder. It's largely a collection of genealogies, Hebrew legal codices, & schizophrenic rantings. The best parts are the myths, and they are dreadfully boring, nonsensical, and poorly written. Maybe they read better in the original, but every English version I've looked at has the same problems. There's not a single character in the book I identify with, and the only coherent message to be found is that the god of the bible is a complete bastard.
I have much higher standards for fiction & fantasy.

And what makes you believe these to be good reasons ?

Evidence, logic and reason. Just those three things which can (fortunately) never support religious worldviews.
Permalink Reply by Kir Komrik on January 10, 2012 at 7:33pm Hey Angelo,
I have a thought experiment I'd like to run by you.
Consider a 4 way intersection with a pot of gold in the middle of the intersection. Now, in each of the 4 directions down the streets we place 4 different friends an equal distance from the pot of gold. The friends have entered this contest to see who can get to the pot of gold first. The contenders are:
1.) A turtle
2.) Jesus
3.) Cinderella
4.) The Tooth Fairy
We blow the whistle and the race is on. Who gets the pot of gold?

Permalink Reply by archaeopteryx on January 10, 2012 at 8:18pm Kir - normally your logic is spot on, but in this particular case, it's severely flawed: you used "Angelo" and "thought" in the same post, yet the two are mutually exclusive.
