I began wondering recently what the demographic of "personality types" exist within the Atheist community...again, I haven't been Atheist very long and I do not have any friends who are Atheist except on this forum.
There was some discussion within the Female and Atheist discussion surrounding the "geeky type" and this got me to wondering...are we geeks? I wouldn't classify myself as that type. I'm a cross between a home girl and a hippie....I'm sure there are many other kinds of "personalities" represented here. So I am curious. What is your personality profile?

I netted out to being an NT but I could definitely see aspects of myself in the SP and SJ descriptions too.
I've seen a LOT of popular psychology articles that try to divide people into two classes and I almost never see myself fitting into either one of them; I've long harbored the suspicion that the article was talking about the SP-SJ split--which covers 3/4 of the population--and ignoring the 1/4 of the population that is neither because they are either NT or NF.
About 15 years ago there was some fad of an internet site that would test you to see if you were left or right brained... or front or back brained! It got so that everyone at work had taken the thing. I scored almost dead center, and so did one other guy. It so happened the two of us were the ones considered "really smart" by everyone else at work.

Based on the link - scientist/thinker
General profile:
science major, grad school
professional (laboratory) career
avoid eating meat
enjoy wine, nature, traveling, sports, guitar
live in the Bible belt- dislike the Bible and religiosity and politics but love the surroundings
Permalink Reply by x on March 9, 2013 at 3:28pm Profound unilateral hearing loss
crowd/noise aversion
dyslexic
can't spell, atrocious hand writing, can't remember multiplication tables, names of people and other long term memory problems.
introverted
don't care to be with others, low inter-relational skills and I don't give a shit if you like me, people think I'm antisocial for some reason.
Somewhat of a Nerd
Like science and science fiction but only read non-fiction now. History buff but not good at remembering dates.
Libertarian
Aversion to big government. Seems to me that people who like to go into government like to control people in all areas of life. I think government should only intervene when people try to harm other people. Free minds and Free markets.
Agnostic/atheist
I've always been a skeptic of religion, even as a youth. My belief now is that if there is no evidence there should be no belief. That makes me a skeptic of all pseudoscience.
The human mind can't exist outside of the human body for the same reason a perpetual motion machine can't work and for the same reason. No energy, no existence.

Used to be sensing back in high school and the judging and perceiving switched back and forth so much i don't even know what the latest was. Also took it once while feeling plucky and once while sleepy...guess what happened to the e/i score... don't put too much stock in tests that the user can manipulate. Had to take one for an interview, so i totally skewed my score to up my hire-ability. What? I know two wrongs don't make it right but i was so PO'd they wanted to get THAT up in my business.

Permalink Reply by futilethewinds on March 10, 2013 at 5:24pm I am an INFP, so "hippie" would describe me. I am also a geek.
Permalink Reply by Melvinotis on March 10, 2013 at 6:20pm Had a battery-of-the-month club card from Radio Shack when I was growing up. That about sums it up.
Permalink Reply by onyango makagutu on March 11, 2013 at 2:19am In each personality type listed in the 16 types I can find something I identify with.
However, I think I lean mainly towards INTP
Permalink Reply by Suzanne Olson-Hyde on March 11, 2013 at 6:48am Not all geeks per se, but a lot of very smart people. One can pick the personality types by their answers. I am not a geek, wish I was. My partner is part hippie, part nerd. We come in all different shades, every type of personality is here, with many diverse opinions on everything. I am a feminist, which, apparently, these days, is a bad, bad word, I am just for equality, without fear. Being Australian, I don't know what home girl is. INFP

INFP, and I think most people have multiple personalities, depending on the situation.
