(Newser) – An American anthropologist was surprised to encounter reports of penis-snatching in an African village—but only because the "crime" is normally confined to more populated areas, the Daily Mail reports. Writing at AlterNet, Louisa Lombard recounts her visit to the village of Tiringoulou in the Central African Republic, where two villagers said their genitals had been stolen. One, a tea vendor, was attacked by a stranger who only had to grab his hand. "The tea seller felt an electric tingling course through his body and immediately sensed that his penis had shrunk to a size smaller than that of a baby’s," writes Lombard, a postdoctoral fellow at UC Berkeley.
The second victim said he lost his genitals "in the fray" as yells erupted from the crowd .........

I smell bullshit... Sounds like some sort of electric current and I don't see how that would make ones genitals smaller...
Are they complaining that their genitals are shrunk? I thought their genitals had been removed.

Permalink Reply by Hank Hell on March 18, 2013 at 8:20am Sounds like the disorder known as Koro. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Penis_panic . It only happens in some cultures (african, south-east asian) but it's a mass panic disorder where people are convinced that their junk is shrinking and there's nothing they can do.
Permalink Reply by Kairan Nierde on March 18, 2013 at 2:37pm I liked the tale in the witch-hunting guide book about European witches holding penises ransom in birds nests while feeding them corn and oats. That's some creative misogyny.
There is this other syndrome that the Japanese are particularly susceptible to - Its called Paris Syndrome.
They get this culture shock and become catatonic when they suddenly realize that Paris is not what they see in their media magazines.
