The extension of the Patriot Act failed to pass today in the house. Obama did not even need to be put with the decision to sign it or not, and honestly I'm relieved. He will take credit for it, undoubtedly, but let's just say that this bit of news permitted me a small smile.
There is an alarming number in all of this though. 67 Democrats voted yes on this bill. These congresspeople need to be held accountable for that vote.

Permalink Reply by Ryan E. Hoffman on February 8, 2011 at 11:23pm Very true. I'm still mad at him for signing the last one. He could have just allowed it to go into law after the day limit. He didn't have to put his signature on it. That taints his legacy imo.
Anyway, I'm glad the decision is out of his hands.
EDIT: A strong speech of support would go a long way for him here.
