Personally, depending on the crime, I think some people are over-sentenced and some are SEVERELY under-sentenced. Take animal killers for instance. Many times people toture and kill numerous amounts of innocent animals and they only receive probation (Very Violent Crime). Then, someone that participates in safe-cracking can receive 15-25 yrs in a maximum securtiy prison (non-violent crime, in my opinion).

As tax payers, we know that the room and board for each inmate comes out of our pockets. There are several people with life sentences that continue to be vicious and reak havoc within the prison walls. Should these problem causing inmates be re-sentenced to lethal injection, or should we continue to support them until they die naturally or another inmate kills them?

Psychologically, does being "locked up" cause more harm than good to the inmates that will be released back into society? Take into consideration the ones that were placed in max. security facilities with inmates serving life sentences.

I don't really have a problem with hunting, as long as it is for food, not trophies. I also do not like bow hunting. I think that it prolongs suffering. When I say animal abuse, I mean the ones that torture and kill inhumanely, like the woman in the link that I posted. She hanged the dog with an electrical cord, doused it in kerosene, and lit it on fire, all because it chewed on her bible. This is not a justifiable reason to kill a dog, but if the woman absolutely felt the urge to dispose of this dog, she should not have tortured and abused it. We should do something about the animals that are euthanized at shelters, but it has nothing to do with the ones euthanizing them. We should govern the breeding of dogs. These dog breeders are just adding to the problem of pet-overpopulation. They are getting untaxed, undeserved money and are taking away homes from the dogs in the shelter that would make great companions if someone would give them a chance. By the way, the cost of these euthanizations, shelter employee payroll, and  disposals of the bodies come from the tax payers wallet as well. Thanks again, dog breeders.
Why isn't hunting an animal for food the same with killing him for fun? What changes? Does the animal know you're eating him afterwards or that you just put his head on your wall to show off? In my opinion, hunting is the same no matter why you do it. Killing an animal in self-defence is another business altogether, that's not hunting. So, can you tell me what's the difference for you? What if you kill an animal during a bowel movement, how humane is that?
What changes is the respect for the animal. @BryanPaul: I understand your position on the bow. If you are experienced and you can bow hunt with the precision of an instant kill shot, go for it. In my experiences, some of the jackasses around here all hopped onto a bow hunting band wagon within the last few years and not one of them has come out with a deer. They think because they can hit a target 20 yards away they can hit a deer at 40 while he is munching and moving around. However, 3 of them did hit deer with their bows. They just couldnt find them. So here is 3 cases of animal deaths for nothing, supposing the deer died after they ran off. I am sure they did.

And what does respect do for the animal? Nothing. Killing an animal for food it's the same with killing an animal for fun or for other reasons. People just like to feel better about themselves and they say killing an animal for food it's not bad.

Respect for the animal, come on... What is that?

When someone kills for fun, they have issues. If they are heartless enough to let them suffer before they kill them, they have even more issues. Animals deaths are tragic altogether. But at least when you kill for food, they animal is not just wasted. I have a big problem with shooting something for the hell of it and leaving it there. I know many duck hunters that do this. They could easily donate the food to an organization that could give it to a family in need.
I wish I would proofread before I post. I always have a ton of typos.

You said the same thing in three different posts, but nothing really changes, no matter what the reasons for hunting are.

Do you have a problem with someone killing another human being but eating it instead of just letting the body rot? What if an animal kills a human for food? If you do have a problem with it, what changes from before? Just the victim. Are we playing by the jungle law? Survival of the fittest? Shouldn't we, the rational ones, make better calls when it comes to killing other creatures? How fair is it to go with a big fat gun and start shooting animals?

I do not do this. I have never shot or killed an animal, but other people do it daily. Some hungry animals have and will kill people and eat them. It's just the food chain I guess. Nothing I can do about it.

If you have issues with hunters, go after them. I am not a hunter and I never will be.

Well, you do seem to support it, otherwise I wouldn't have replied three times to three posts in which you do it. I want(ed) to understand your reasoning, but you just kept saying that you don't have a problem with it. I'm sorry for prolonging this.
I do not support it, I just accept it.
I agree about not trophy hunting. I hate people that kill what they don't eat, but I disagree with the bow hunting part. Let me first say I don't bow hunt but I have been around hunting all my life and most times it is just as fast with the bow as with a gun. Remember they both kill the same way. I think if you trophy hunt you should be made to do it with a bow or spear. Like this" so you want to kill a bear for your trophy room or a lion"? " fine take this bow and have fun but remember, don't miss or the lion gets the trophy, not you". Sounds fair right? If you don't eat it them and you try killing it then at least it should have a fair chance to eat you then. The woman that killed the dog should be hung with an extension corn and set on fire. I hate the small dogs that have no purpose. I wouldn't have one. They breed them by the thousands and they can't live without a human owner. I like only certain breeds and cats are worthless. lol, sorry kitty people.
oh i replied about the bow but it is above your post :) I made the very same statement about the woman on the atheist nexus site and you would not believe the negative responses I got. They became like a damn lynch mob or something. They began insulting my intelligence and comparing me to theists. I had to continuously remind them that I am attacking the problem of animal abuse, but they were attacking me personally. I kept getting posts like: "dont take this the wrong way" or "no offense but" and the following words would rip me to shreads. I you have to start sentences that way, you should leave them out of the discussion. They are personal attacks and are no longer discussing the issue itself. I'm still a little upset about it, as if you can't tell.
