President Barack Obama nominated U.S. District Judge David Hamilton to a seat on the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals (the Senate Judiciary Committee will be held Wednesday, 01APR).

The Religious Right says having him "would be a grave setback for the culture of life and all who cherish constitutional restraint." Also claiming that his "decisions reveal a deep disrespect for the Constitution and overinflated view of his own opinion." As well as that he is "entirely out-of-step with the opinion of the majority of Americans" in his extreme views on abortion.

Why do they hate him so?

He ruled that the Indiana House of Representatives could no longer open with exclusively christian prayers; upholding the "1983 Supreme Court ruling permitting legislative prayer as long as it is non-sectarian."

He backs the Supreme Court stance of 1973, that "woman should have the right to choose an abortion under certain circumstances."

And just to make sure they get across their point that he is evil; they have tied him to the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN). Turns out he did worked for them, soliciting donations, for one month, when he was 22 years old, back in 1979.

Nod to Americans United for Separation of Church and State.
