This is not me.

It is a simple question. Why are nipples/breasts so taboo? I want your opinion. Guys with their shirt off it is okay, but a girl, "OMG DON'T LOOK KIDS! NIPPLES!!! YOU SHOULD BE ashamed OF YOURSELF!" Keep in mind a lot of men have bigger breasts than most women!

Also, is this picture not as taboo in your mind because the nipples have been erased? Finally, while we are on it. Why can we have nipples of african tribes on public TV but not other races? Why the divide?

I know these sounds like silly questions, but I want some rational discussion over this topic.

I completely agree. I breastfed for a combined total of 4 years. In that time I saw a LOT of reactions to the female nipple. Though I did have plenty of negative experiences, by far the most common reaction from my more conservative friends was about 30 seconds of them feeling uncomfortable, blushing, and fumbling for words, then they shook it off and continued chatting like normal.

Breastfeeding moms get the fuzziest end of the lollipop in this deal. Even in the last couple years there have been numerous cases of women being arrested for nursing in public. I've had a dog in that fight for the last decade and thankfully, most states have finally passed laws to protect a woman's right to breastfeed anywhere she is allowed to be with an infant. We also used to stage "nurse-ins" whenever someone was thrown out of a restaurant or public area for refusing to feed their infant in a bathroom. Hello? I'm not eating my lunch in a bathroom!

FREE THE BOOOBIEEEEEES!!!!!
HAHA I had to laugh! But seriously, I never thought about the breast feeding aspect.
I doubt it. I worked in a grocery for almost 14 years and I never got used to the beautiful women that visited my store daily. I often joked that I fell in love at least a dozen times a week. And most of the time, these women were fully clothed, yet managed to arouse strong interest in not only me, but many of the males working in the store.
After living in Pattaya for a while, I quit seeing naked Thai women.
Seriously. They just became part of the scenery. It was so common place, I didn't even notice.
But a naked westerner? That still got my attention. When one of the falang girls took off their shirt, it had the same impact as it did in the States.

....and as for German's in Speedos.....well, there are some things you can never unsee.
Why Europeans love the banana hammock is beyond me, but they do.
The horror.......
White people do not blend in very well into their surroundings. We are anti camo. We might have more luck in the snow but snow sucks!

I have always wondered why does darker skin look better than pale skin? True, I know this question is in the eye of the beholder but in my personal opinion people with darker tanned skin just look a little bit healthier. Or am I just a target of magazine marketing?

Can anyone shed light on this topic?
Maybe the ablity to withstand sunlight was an important trait after we didnt have a mat of hair to protect us. Skin cancer? In a harsh African sun, you would have a greater chance of getting burnt or developing a cancerous spot. I have an Irish heritage and have very pale skin; thusly I cannot stay out in the sun for very long without turning a lovely shade of red. I doubt that my genes for producing pale skin good for producing Vitamin D with little sunlight would stand up to the test on the equator. Without cover, I would fry! Maybe reducing the risk of sunburns and cancer (or other skin conditions) outweighed the risk of not absorbing enough sunlight to make Vitamin D.
Just thoughts.
Historically, many cultures preferred pale skin in women. Images of white faced Geisha come to mind. The most logical reason I've heard for this was because the wealthiest women stayed indoors instead of working out in the fields all day so pale skin became the beauty standard. If that's the case, than the comparatively new western preference for sun-kissed skin also makes sense since our celebs and wealthier members of society spend more time on tropical vacations or at the beach instead of in an office all day.

In the states, many people think tanning looks healthier and more youthful. In other places, women use skin whitening creams for the same reason. Like the acceptance of nudity, beauty standards definitely vary from place to place.
Going have to agree with everything you just said, was exactly what I was thinking.
It used to be that pale skin was the standard of beauty in the States for the very reasons you listed.
In my experience, humans just like whatever they are not.
If your standard person is a pale cubical dweller, then you'll seek sun kissed skin.
If you live on an island and dark is the norm, then you'll seek fair, fine skin.
I think it's about spreading our genetics as far as possible.
Mixed race offspring are healthiest. We might be seeking that.
I don't know. I like women who are like me, as well as those who are very different. (only from a philosophical view of course, as I am happily married...)
You just like women!
Fair enough.
