How long have you been an atheist?  Why did you give up on a big daddy up in the sky?

Hi David.

I have always been an atheist.  I didn't grow up in a religious household and as a result I was able to make up my mind, at an early age, about religion and belief in gods.

I explored religion, I would go to church with friends and things like that.  I even read the bible to see what it was about.  Yes...the whole thing.  What a headache THAT was.  I believe that reading the bible is what sealed the deal for me, as far as being a non-believer.  That book is crazy.

Well, I was born an atheist as we all are and I guess I never got over it.  I was skeptical as a child and agnostic when I was a teen and early adult.  Somewhere along the line I figured out that religion was all a bunch of bull shi*t and became an out and out atheist.  No one has ever been able to present me with an alternative that was consistent with the facts and brass tacks of life so I remain an atheist.
