“And he went up from thence unto Bethel: and as he was going up by the way, there came forth little children out of the city, and mocked him, and said unto him, ‘Go up, thou bald head; go up, thou bald head.’ And he turned back, and looked on them, and cursed them in the name of the Lord. And there came forth two she bears out of the wood, and tare forty and two children of them. And he went from thence to Mount Carmel, and from thence he returned to Samaria” (2 Kings 2: 23-25, KJV).
Hey dearest friend, how good to see you here! When am not blogging on my site, I spend time here.
I love the book of Ecclesiastes, regardless of who wrote it.
Job19:17 My breath is offensive to my wife; I am loathsome to my own brothers.
Numbers 11:18-20 “Tell the people: ‘Consecrate yourselves in preparation for tomorrow, when you will eat meat. The Lord heard you when you wailed, “If only we had meat to eat! We were better off in Egypt!” Now the Lord will give you meat, and you will eat it. 19 You will not eat it for just one day, or two days, or five, ten or twenty days, 20 but for a whole month—until it comes out of your nostrils and you loathe it—because you have rejected the Lord, who is among you, and have wailed before him, saying, “Why did we ever leave Egypt?”’”
Proverb 31:6 Give beer to those who are perishing, wine to those who are in anguish.
Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
I hate it when meat comes out of my nostrils !
I find the Sermon on the Mount (The Beattitudes) in Matthew and Luke quite interesting. While I was "saved" it seemed to present Jesus as a sweetheart. However, as I look at who Jesus really was in the Gospels through my atheist mind, I see it as a threat. In other words, "Be a good little bitch by not making waves and I'll reward you." This particular scripture seems quite oppressive to me now.
Spiritual carrot and stick, indeed.
Matthew 6:6 But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.
I just wish all xtians would take this literally, think of all the valuable real estate churches take up.
I like to confront xians who must pray publicly with Matthew 6:6. They ignore it, of course.
I also use Matthew 7:1&2, Judge not, et cetera.
I would use his 7:3-5 about beams in the eyes of those who judge but few xians would understand it.
Psalm 137:9 Happy is the one who seizes your infants and dashes them against the rocks.
That's a harsh one Dylan, good of you to point out that one.
Micah 3:3You eat the flesh of my people after you strip their skin from them and break their bones. You chop them up like flesh for the cooking pot, like meat in a cauldron." Good God! It's Dahmer 3:3.
"...It puts the lotion in the basket..."
"In The Beginning...", then it sort of went down hill from there
