More Atheistic Hate

See, again -this is the kind of nonsense that I’m talking about. Atheists, the very people who yammer on about “freedom” from religion, or “live and let live” flat out attack Christianity.
Where are their anti-Hanukkah ads? Oh that’s right, you don’t want to be
seen as anti-semitic. Where are their anti-Kwanzaa ads? Oh that’s
right, you don’t want to be seen as a racist. Where are their
anti-Ramadan ads? Oh that’s right, you don’t want to be seen as
intolerant or an extremist. I don’t see those ads anywhere. Nope, just
attack Christianity, because it’s always been, and always will be, their
whipping horse. It’s cowardly, and cheap. You are as extreme as the
“God Hates Fags” idiots in Kansas. You’re a reflection of them. A polar,
but equal, opposite.

For me, it’s always the epitome of hypocrisy when a group who yells for division and separation and equality flat out steps on the very thing they preach. (Oh sorry, is “preach” too
religious? Is “advocate” a better word?) Celebrate diversity my ass.
Atheists are more hungry to assimilate the human race into godless
drones than any religious group I know of are desirous of converting new
believers. Not believing is your religion, people. So really, you’re
not very different from those you allegedly oppose. Know your enemy? Oh
yes, you do. You’re just like them/ us. I actually don’t believe that
atheists don’t believe in God. Rather, for most of them it’s just a
cheap way to shirk any moral or civil responsibility for things they do
in life. What a pathetic way to live life -in constant attack of those
who oppose you.

But that’s okay. You have a right to not believe in whatever, and I’m not going to create a billboard to attack you on your birthday or anniversary, or any other day you deem special and/or
important. (See how that works?) But don’t sit on your self-made stool
of genius and try to tell me my beliefs are a myth, because frankly it
makes you look like a total douchebag, and that you really have no idea
what you’re talking about. You don’t have to believe in God, or even
like that I do, but don’t fucking attack me because I do. I’m not
knocking on your door, telling you that you’re going to hell or
whatever.

You want equality? You want people to just be themselves? Practice what you PREACH. The First Amendment not only protects you, it protects me, too. Freedom OF religion. You choose to
not believe, fine. It’s said that even George Washington didn’t
necessarily believe in God, but even he knew to protect everyone despite
their beliefs. Do you forget why the English came to America with their
powdered wigs and cockney accents? It wasn’t to settle into new land,
it was for freedom. Don’t try to take mine away, or piss on it, because
you exercise a different freedom. Grow up, already.

My Response:

This billboard is not an attack on Christianity, but a call to fellow non-believers and an attempt to get those still trapped in their belief
to actually give question to their religious beliefs. All to often I
hear atheist billboards and signs accused as being an "attack" or "hate
speech" and I think it is really dishonest to use these words and it
does a great dishonor to the power these words do hold. Inviting
somebody to question a belief and use reason and skepticism is not
hostile, threatening, hate filled, violent, or malicious in any way.

Where are their anti-Hanukkah ads? Oh that’s right, you don’t want to be seen as anti-semitic. Where are their anti-Kwanzaa ads? Oh that’s right, you
don’t want to be seen as a racist. Where are their anti-Ramadan ads? Oh

in Kansas. You’re a reflection of them. A polar, but equal, opposite.

First let me point out that the billboard that prompted your post cost the American Atheists over $20,000 for only one month. Atheist organizations
are often not as well funded as many other organizations, especially
religious organizations and so they are limited on what they can afford
to put up. Considering the vast majority of Americans self identify with
christianity or once belonged to the Christian faith, it would make
sense financially to focus o the holiday celebrated by the largest
religious group in the country.

Second, how can you even draw a comparison between this billboard and the WBC? Their signs praise their god for death, pain, torture, and all manors of
evil. They strive to inflict emotional and psychological pain on the
public and specifically onto the families of the those whose funerals
they picket. Comparing a light hearted billboard inviting skepticism  to
these monstrous acts carried out by the WBC is really dishonest and is,
simply put, libel.

For me, it’s always the epitome of hypocrisy when a group who yells for division and separation and equality flat out steps on the very thing
they preach. (Oh sorry, is “preach” too religious? Is “advocate” a
better word?) Celebrate diversity my ass. Atheists are more hungry to

know of are desirous of converting new believers.

I really don't think you understand what atheism is. Atheism is simply: a lack of belief in a god or gods. We have no creed or agenda, but just a
lack of a belief. Granted there are atheist organizations and
communities who have goals, but even then they all have different ones.
One thing most atheists would agree on is that we are not out to convert
the masses into godlessness. Many of us are out to preserve a
separation of church and state as put forth by our founding fathers and
to prevent religious ideals and rules from being imposed on those who do
not share the same beliefs. I think many of us also think it is a good
thing to be a skeptic and to always seek the truth and find evidence for
any belief we may hold.

Not believing is your religion, people. So really, you’re not very different from those you allegedly oppose. Know your enemy? Oh yes, you
do. You’re just like them/ us.

Words do have meaning and simply because you don't acknowledge them. doesn't mean the meaning suddenly goes away. Religion is a set of beliefs
concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of life and the universe,
especially when considered as the creation of a supernatural agency, or
human beings’ relation to that which they regard as holy, sacred,
spiritual, or divine. Religion requires a belief in something and since
atheism is a lack of a belief then no, it really is not a religion.

I actually don’t believe that atheists don’t believe in God. Rather, for most of them it’s just a cheap way to shirk any moral or civil
responsibility for things they do in life. What a pathetic way to live
life -in constant attack of those who oppose you.

Simply because you believe something doesn't make it true. Consider the following: "I believe Christians actually believe in (Thor, Oden,
Brahma, Krishnu, Hera, Pluto, Mars, Allah,  etc) but for most of them,
their denial of these other gods for the christian god is just a cheap
way to shirk andy moral or civil responsibilities for things they do in
life counter to the teachings of (Thor, Oden, Brahma, Krishnu, Hera,
Pluto, Mars, Allah,  etc)" Sounds silly doesn't it?

Atheists don't have a belief in a god or gods and if you refuse to accept that, then that's on you. It is really dishonest of you to not be able to
understand how an atheist could not believe in your god when you don't
believe in the many thousands of gods that have been worshiped through
the ages.

I think you confuse open discussion and debate with an attack. There really is a difference.

But that’s okay. You have a right to not believe in whatever, and I’m not going to create a billboard to attack you on your birthday or
anniversary, or any other day you deem special and/or important. (See
how that works?)

Are you not aware of the tens of thousands of billboards, signs, and church message boards that litter the roadways of America? Have you ever read
any of these messages? If you find this kind hearted atheist billboard
that simply inspires inquiry to be offensive, then what about some of
the messages on these? I have seen signs saying atheists should be
kicked out of the country, deserve torture and torment, call atheists
horrible names, and even worse. Those aside, the ones that are less
violent and are kind hearted still attempt to pass a belief onto those
who don't believe . Maybe you personally don't post these things, but do
you protest them?

But don’t sit on your self-made stool of genius and try to tell me my beliefs are a myth, because frankly it makes you look like a total
douchebag, and that you really have no idea what you’re talking about.
You don’t have to believe in God, or even like that I do, but don’t
fucking attack me because I do. I’m not knocking on your door, telling
you that you’re going to hell or whatever.

The issue here is that you may keep your beliefs to yourself, but most do not. People try to pass laws based on religious doctrines and ideals.
They hurt others because of religious reasons. They try to impose
religious doctrine on others and ban scientific facts and medical
advances with their religions. As long as people use their religious
views to carry out these things, then atheists have a right to question
them.

I also think that you are taking criticism and questions of christianity as a personal attack on you. This couldn't be further from the truth. If somebody criticizes your
favorite football team, or your pollitical party, they are criticizing
them and not you personally. The same is true with christianity or any
other religion.

You want equality? You want people to just be themselves? Practice what you PREACH. The First Amendment not only protects you, it protects me, too.
Freedom OF religion. You choose to not believe, fine. It’s said that
even George Washington didn’t necessarily believe in God, but even he
knew to protect everyone despite their beliefs.

It also promises freedom from religion as well, but what does that have to do with your post? If christians, (or anyone else) have a right to post
billboards, then atheists do to. The atheist billboard wasn't trying to
remove your right to practice your religion. It was encouraging you to
think about your religion and why you believe it.

Do you forget why the English came to America with their powdered wigs and cockney accents? It wasn’t to settle into new land, it was for freedom.
Don’t try to take mine away, or piss on it, because you exercise a
different freedom. Grow up, already.

Yes, freedom from the oppressive rule of the king and the church. The english church held a religious monopoly and people wanted the freedom
to practice religion or a lack of religion in any way they saw fit.

Atheist's aren't trying to take your religion away and aren't trying to "piss on it". This billboard was a call for people to be more skeptical of their
own beliefs and a way of letting atheists know they are not alone. How
is that an attempt to take away your freedom? We have the same rights
and the same freedoms and most atheists fight to uphold those rights and
freedoms.

I ask that in the future you attempt to picture yourself in the shoes of the atheist and that you clearly think out your position on the subject. Thank you for sharing
your thoughts. Have a wonderful holiday season. Peace.

Yeah. WE'RE the hateful ones, but they're always letting other people know they're going to hell except for themselves.
Oy. That's what kids need to be seeing on their drive to school (bleeding Jesus, that is).
simple lack of data on his part... amazing because data now falls out of the sky , via high speed internet , and most places its free to those who want some
It makes me smile when christians get offended by such things.

It proves they are self conscious about their belief system, and that the only thing they know to do besides stepping back and critically examining themselves ... is to play the pathetically boring 'persecution' card.

Christianity wouldn't be where it is today if it didn't relate every event in the history of the world, and today to being persecuted like Jesus and his followers were 2000 years ago ...

Let me writhe in torturous mental agony in the sight of a perfectly designed sign to help unite a closeted minority.

On the contrary ... if a jew or muslim group put up a billboard stating that Moses or Moohammed loves you, they probably wouldn't mind too much ...
very funny..
Love it!
Excellent!
Wakka wakka wakka wakka wakka

My response: Fuck you.
LoL ... slightly in your face ... a teeny bit shrill ... but overall, I like it.

Thumbs up !

Another reason I roll my eyes at any religious person that says ... 'But you're atheist ... why do you CARE if someone believes in God ...'

They just don't realize it is our sanity at stake. Our ability as a minority to express our thoughts and ideas freely without being thought of as Hitler.
wonderful!
