List of scientific facts which contradict religion and religion has admitted were true

Can we create a list of scientific facts that contradict the Bible or religion in someway and the priest or pope who has admitted they were wrong? I'll give one.. can anyone else think of more? It doesn't have to be a video... (but video would be great) i'd love to hear about Pope's or Priests who weighted in one way or another and who were later contradicted by another Pope or religious figure. Here's Pat Robertson admitting the Earth is not 6000 years old... anyone have anyone saying otherwise?

This isn't a priest or other church leader per se, though this is something which contradicts what the church has been saying for years..

Catholic hospital chain beats malpractice suit by saying fetuses aren’t people

A chain of Catholic Hospitals has beaten a malpractice lawsuit by saying that fetuses are not equivalent to human lives. According to the Colorado Independent, in the death of a 31-year-old woman carrying twin fetuses, Catholic Health Initiatives’ attorneys argued that in cases of wrongful death, the term “person” only applies to individuals born alive, and not to those who die in utero.

Interesting.. some pretty severe implications.

I love how they manipulate what they believe in to use it to their own advantage. So now, because they say the fetuses aren't people, the deaths amount to 1 instead of 3. Later on they will probably say 'the devil made me do it' when they try argue against abortion again. Sigh...

In August of 1992, the Catholic Church finally admitted that Galileo was right and that they were wr, wr, wr, not entirely correct in condemning him for his heliocentric theory.

Some theists still haven't admitted those facts, them thar rednecks down in Texas being a case in point - I tried turning this into a discussion three days ago, but like my three other efforts at beginning a discussion, it never appeared on the board, and, like the others, I deleted it.

Texas Public Schools Teaching 'End Times' Theology, Creationism

Public Schools

Students in Texas' public schools are still learning that the Bible provides scientific evidence that the Earth is 6,000 years old, that astronauts have discovered "a day missing in space in elapsed time" that affirms biblical stories of the sun standing still and moving backwards, and that the United States was founded as a Christian nation based on biblical Christian principles. Read more at Huffington Post

I couldn't engage in discussing that without feeling an overwhelming desire to euthanize Texas.

We should probably swoop in there first and collect the Atheists - I somehow doubt we would need more than a mini-van.

I would just suggest that we call FEMA first. Declare Texas as a super-fund site, and direct the CDC to determine if the population is suffering from the toxic effects of the oil industry. I wonder if benzene and other organics can cause extream religious belief? Oh 'God' I handled xylene recently...God forgive me.....LOL....

You could call it a Reverse Rapture!

Wait, 8 atheists in a mini-van? All their computer gear, 12 tons of books, 8 chess boards, a wet bar, and Texas egos to match, more like a dozen hummers with military convoy, escort service, and SWAT team. Remember we are fighting off the zombie horde! Once the zombies 'know' which brains to eat, it's a no limit to a FEMA evac....LOL

The moon generates it's own light rather than reflecting the Sun. Bill Nye blog.

Actually Bill pointed out that the moon was a reflector and the fundy nutjobs revolted, claiming that since the bible said god created 2 lights Bill must be wrong.  They never stipulated any scientific truth.

((Aside: why did I capitalize "Bill" but not "god" or "bible"?  I believe Bill.
