I would like to try this again but first can I just let you know that I am an atheist who is trying to understand the religious point of view. This is not the same thing agreeing with them but I truly am trying to see it from their angle. I want to step into their shoes and I want to feel it the way they feel it and in that way, hopefully try to solve problems with them instead of against them. This is empathy. This is peace.

About the name I use  - Evangelia is my Mothers name and the English version of that is Angela. It makes me happy to see my mothers name. David is a biblical name to but that doesnt mean people named David are religious.

Unseen - The way you were able to play out that scenario in your mind and then work backwards with it and then write about it in a clear way, is very impressive.  I dont think the average person can do that.

My son is really good at coming up with analogies like that.

I love it

Edit: Why did this post all the way down here?

If you look at the indentations of the responses you'll see that you're right after Professor Robert's post right after mine. All the other ones are indented more meaning they are conversations related to the aforementioned post by Professor Robert. You need to keep track of how far posts are indented. If you respond to this post, for example, your post will be indented so that it's about 1/4" narrower than this one.

One of the few practical benefits of majoring in philosophy should be learning to write clearly, because the ideas themselves are often hard enough to understand. Someone who can't write clearly can't express his/her ideas well enough for them to be evaluated and is unlikely to succeed.

Of course, now and then here we get the show-off types who work hard on dazzling lesser people with complex sentences, vocabulary that has people going to dictionary.com, and unnecessarily obscure explanations of their views.

Most ideas can be explained clearly in words that are the common coin of everyday life. For example, Einstein was able to explain relativity clearly such that people understood what he was saying even if they found his the concept impossible to believe.

Everything is forgiven at confession, if at the time, the perpetrator of sin is contrite, and the priest tells the perpetrator not to do it again. It depends on the the level of sin, one may have to pray The Act of Contrition, a number of Hail Mary's and a few Our Fathers.

In the end, It is just a procedure. The sinner is not supposed to do it again, but of course, he does. Back to confession, all is forgiven. I did wonder if pedophile priests actually believe in god, at their recidivst rate of sinning. As far as I know Pedophilia is not mentioned in the bible as a sin, that is the get out of hell card, and why it was ignored.
