By using the term supernatural, we are using a primitive mind set reserved for that part of the brain that also housed, love, hate, anger, fear, aggression etc called the reptilian brain. If we call it a supreme being its becomes more plausible to higher functioning parts of the brain. A being might well exist but if it does it is looking down at up from the top of a test tube. The proper term for its would be preternatural, in that we may not understand it now but will someday. Using this premise we can say that we all have the potentiality for Atheism if we are willing to let primitive mindsets fall away and allow for higher thinking processes to come forward. Unfortunately, people want to be afraid. After awhile it becomes addictive and is set firmly in the personality. If we can teach our children to not be afraid of things they don't yet understand, then maybe we will have a chance at higher evolution and an understanding of what, if anything is out there.

Ah, but the supernatural is just the tip of the iceberg. What about the hypernatural and the infranatural? Why do we ignore these (at our peril I might add)?
Subnatural? Ultranatural? Hyponatural? We can keep this up all day. :)

But yes, Janelle, the supernatural is just 'I do not know, so I made up X'.
Im hoping that by keeping things simple and phrased in a way that anyone can understand, the premise will get through and a seed will be planted in an otherwise closed mind.
