Another fairy tale of Xtian's changing things to fit with modern life.
Why does this idea still persist today, when even the most ignorant of all believers must realize that he was born in Israel, and therefore must have had a dark complextion. (and was probably hella short, too!)

I agree, if he actually existed (that's another thread going on here, and there's nothing to say he didn't), then he would be of arab appearance.

Off topic, I love the episode of Family Guy where Stewie dies and goes to heaven, comes back saying he met jesus, and that he was chinese.
Nonsense! Since his father, God, is obviously white, Jesus totally could have totally looked at least partially Caucasian.
God was an alien man, Jesus would be green.
With big bug eyes, right?
Jesus was the hulk "No gambling in the holy temple... Ahh! Jesus Smash!"
Lou Ferrigno is in ' THE WRATH OF THE ALIEN GOD : JESUS " ,,,,,,

yes ,i that would be a hit .:)
Misty, no. Even most fairly informed believers don't realize Jesus must have been dark skinned. They would if they thought about it, but since that is a sin, they don't and don't.

As for why this is the idea so persistant - the Vatican made damn sure to implant this idea into people's heads from the get go, because it would have been hard to explain the hating of Jews while worshiping a Jew.
According to my tradition, the Lord said unto Moses, all the Jews shall have long noses, except for Aaron; and he shall have a Squaaron (colour not mentioned, sorry!) However, I understand also that King David, Jesus' forebear via his father (umm not sure how that works out as apparently his father was God but anyhoo) ... had ginger hair. Mary's forebears are not mentioned in biblical writings, to my incomplete knowledge. It is possible Jesus was Black but the likelihood, imo is that he was Semitic looking - although I'm concerned that he looks very worried in that piccie, but then he would, wouldn't he!
I wonder if anybody would let us get a DNA sample from one of the many supposed forskins of Jesus floating around. That would end the debate for sure.
Our seemingly plague like actions of Modernizing every single thing we encounter.

Here are the bible versus that tell you what ethnicity he was.
And some of the odd characteristics of Jesus.

o 1:13 - And in the midst of the seven candlesticks [one] like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle.
o 1:14 - His head and [his] hairs [were] white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes [were] as a flame of fire;
o 1:15 - And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters.
o 1:16 - And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp two edged sword: and his countenance [was] as the sun shineth in his strength.(KJV translation)

Revelation is generally taken as highly symbolic, and this passage is no exception, especially since the remainder of the description clearly cannot be interpreted as being a natural description. Nonetheless this passage has been used to argue that Jesus was black, based on the description of his hair as being "like wool", which is interpreted to refer to hair that is tightly coiled, as many people of African descent have.[1][unreliable source?], although the phrase in Revelation speaks of his head being white. In the Book of Daniel 7:9 the phrase is echoed, describing his Ancient of days did sit, whose garment [was] white as snow, and the hair of his head like the pure wool.[2] It is also comparable to language used in the Apocalypse of Abraham, which describes the angel Yahoel as having a body "like sapphire," a face "like chrysolite," and "the hair of his head like snow".[3]

The "feet of fine brass" line has also been used to argue for a dark-skinned race, but many often leave out burnished and glowing. Additionally, the references to having a white "head" and a countenance that is "as the sun shineth" has been used to argue for Jesus being racially white.[4]
Incised sarcophagus slab with the Adoration of the Magi from the Catacombs of Rome, 3rd century. Plaster cast with added colour.

However, all of these descriptions are full of vague poetic imagery, and are attempts to glorify the heavenly body of Jesus rather than to accurately describe his appearance when on earth. There is also debate whether John the Divine, the author of Revelation, was actually John the Apostle, who knew the earthly Jesus, or even if he was John the Evangelist (see authorship of the Johannine works). The relatively late date ascribed to Revelation by modern scholarship leads many scholars to argue that it seems unlikely that someone who had personally seen Jesus in life wrote the description.[5]

There are also many other later descriptions of Jesus from saints and others who claim they have seen him in a vision.

Thought this was some interesting stuff.

I do know that most to all the bible is misinterpreted due to lack of understanding
behind symbolism's and euphemisms. And that they meant for the writings to be
an astrological calculator. For the change of eras and the animals within the bible that are connected to the age itself.

They instead take what is said literally. Which this text was never meant to
be a literal interpretation. Nor was it anywhere near scientific or included any
type of science other than Alchemy. It was a compilation of stories re-written by Semitic priests at the orders of Constantine when his senate and him voted that the Christ man of early christian believers was turned into a god like being. With many magical qualities that the early Christians did not even believe or think existed in this man. And these men would take certain texts that either had no end or were indifferent to the beliefs of that time and fixed them to suit Constantine's wants and needs. Or completely left these stories out. Another thing they did. Was added what they made up from a story that was not complete. And yes, they were paid well to do this.
Thus, every time the bible was re-written it was only done to suit the beliefs of the time
it was re-written in.
Than came the Catholic hating King James. Whom made sure to write the bible to be against any beliefs of the Catholics. Who also brought forth the type of Hate you
see in the Westboro Baptist Church.

I know many Christians swear to the King James Bible. But they are enabling a form
of Hatred that will increase until it has consumed the world.
I dont think that anybody who is stated as Caucasian is actually
a full Caucasian anyway.
I have Native American, & Roman.

I truly dont think that if A Jesus existed. He was even close to being
Caucasian. Due to his decent and the region in which he was born.
it's interesting..blacks tend to think he is black, whites tend to think he is white and anyone in the middle east are the closest. lol
