One I saw was - I don't believe in dinosaurs - gave that one a good stiff ignoring!

I had a friend tell me that she didn't believe that dinosaurs were real... I was like what? So what about all those bones? Her response was some non-sense that they were faked and that a Christian researcher was able to make a chicken bone appear older. Just makes me shake my head.

No.  That's the devil.  God put the devil there to lie to us so that we could exercise our "free will" and choose to reject the lie.  

Yeah, I know that is not the least bit logical, but we are talking about ill-educated Fundies, aren't we?

Good point about the Fundies and their um lack of grasp on logic.

Another question I ask many is if they fail their science tests on purpose to stand up for their beliefs or if they accept the "Devils Lie" long enough for class.

If God put the devil there, not only knowing that he would lie to us, but actually creating him for that express purpose, doesn't that make God responsible for all the lies?

Aren't angels devoid of free will? How did they rebel? How could Lucifer fall unless the whole thing was orchestrated by God?

@Kevin - remember Prometheus, the Greek demi-god who took pity on mankind and brought fire to him down from heaven, and was punished by being chained to a rock and having his guts ripped out everyday by vultures, which grew back overnight, only to have it happen again the next day? (Kinda hard to get a good night's sleep, with that facing you --)

Well, Prometheus, the "Fire-Bringer," had a counterpart, the "Light-Bringer" - that phrase, in Latin, was "Luz Ferrer," which has been corrupted into, "Lucifer."

Much as Christians stole the Winter Solstice, a Northern European celebration, and re-named it as the birthdate of their "savior," ancient Jews took gods rival to Yahweh and made them into enemies of their religion. The "Light-bringer," who brought light to humans, was made synonymous with Satan, which is a bit ironic, as "Satan," himself, was made the bad guy because he was also a rival god, Set-ten (Lord Set - ever wonder why "Star Wars" had an evil Lord Seth?) an Egyptian god and the evil brother of the Egyptian god, Osiris.

Additionally, the Moon God was the Akkadian patron saint exclusively of only two cities in Mesopotamia, Ur, and Haran, the only two cities where the Bible tells us Abraham lived before heading west. The Akkadian Moon God's name was - and I know you're not gonna believe this - Sin.

And BTW, the Norse goddess, daughter of Odin and brother of Thor, Fria (actually, Freyja) was converted by Christian missionaries into being a witch, and since Freyja was always depicted as having beside her, her immortal cat, the cat was deemed by those missionaries to have been the witch's "familiar," which is why witches are depicted as having black cats today. Betcha didn't know that!

Is that why Friday (named after Freyja) is considered unlucky?  I often wondered about that.  Can you 'Ferrer' any 'Luz' on that for me? (yes I know Latin declines, but I can't be arsed to do it)

I can only say with certainty that it's "Fria's/Freyja's Day," just as the day before that is "Thor's Day," and the one before that, "Wodin's/Odin's Day." Loki was a bad boy, he didn't get a day.

As for "ferrer," the correct conjugation is "ferrat," the impersonal "you," or "ferras," if you're speaking to someone more familiar (a friend, a child) or someone considered inferior (a servant), comparable to the Bible's, "thee," "thou," "thy" and "thine":

ferro (I)
ferras (you - familiar -sing.)
ferrat (you, impersonal/he/she)
ferramos (we)
ferratis (you - fam. - plural)
ferrant (they)
