Is there any truth to your life being blessed if you serve God without hypocrisy?

The only proof that the old Testament offers for the immutability of the counsel of God, are the blessings to your health and prosperity if you serve him without hypocrisy.

Has anyone tried this test for the existence of God?

Why have we fasted,’ they say,

‘and you have not seen it?

Why have we humbled ourselves,

and you have not noticed?’

“Yet on the day of your fasting, you do as you please

and exploit all your workers.

4Your fasting ends in quarreling and strife,

and in striking each other with wicked fists.

You cannot fast as you do today

and expect your voice to be heard on high.

5Is this the kind of fast I have chosen,

only a day for a man to humble himself?

Is it only for bowing one’s head like a reed

and for lying on sackcloth and ashes?

Is that what you call a fast,

a day acceptable to the Lord?

6“Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen:

to loose the chains of injustice

and untie the cords of the yoke,

to set the oppressed free

and break every yoke?

7Is it not to share your food with the hungry

and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter—

when you see the naked, to clothe him,

and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?

8Then your light will break forth like the dawn,

and your healing will quickly appear;

then your righteousnessa will go before you,

and the glory of the Lord will be your rear guard.

9Then you will call, and the Lord will answer;

you will cry for help, and he will say: Here am I.

“If you do away with the yoke of oppression,

with the pointing finger and malicious talk,

10and if you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry

and satisfy the needs of the oppressed,

then your light will rise in the darkness,

and your night will become like the noonday.

serve him without hypocrisy

I expect people i follow to serve me not the other way around. And no major religions god has served a single person without hypocrisy.

you know michael, you would do yourself a huge favor by actually studying biblical scholarship of where the bible comes from! both books has suspect authorship and are at best a collection of mid-eastern myths and stories put together in one book!

your bible tells you to study to show thyself approved in timothy,(2 timothy 2:15) so why don't you stop stating every word of that work of fiction as truth until you have actually read the whole thing and done a bit of research into it's actual origins! question everything!

Why not just put God to the test and serve him without hypocrisy to see if he is out there?

i did for 30 years, he didn't show up!

You gave yourself to the afflicted and your health and prosperity was not blessed relative to those you know who did not?

Why not just put God to the test and serve him without hypocrisy to see if he is out there?

Because I have better things to do than believe in a fairy tale. I'm not 6 anymore >./p>

If I were as young as you I would stack my chips on remembering the afflicted even if you don't believe because you will receive benefits in the life that now is and the life to come.

It's a bad bet.  You can't evaluate the dealer, thus you can't determine the actual payout.

Well I am winning a lot more at life than Las Vegas.

What I'm saying is, instead of hedging things on a bet, why not simply live by your convictions and experience life for its own intrinsic value?  If that leads one to God, I hope they find that fulfilling.  In my case, it surely doesn't lead me to religion or gods, come what may.

So you're saying that your god will be happy if I follow, without actually believing. Wow, he's either really vain, egotist or really stupid or a combination of the two cases.

Even if I were to say, okay lets give religion a shot, why would I choose christianity? Why not the religion of my parents or another religion which has less vile beliefs than christianity?

You don't need any god to show humanity love and benefit from it.

The Sheep and the Goats

31“When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his throne in heavenly glory. 32All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.
34“Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. 35For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’
37“Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’
40“The King will reply, ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.’
