I'm new to Think Atheist and wanted to start new discussion to get into the mix. So here goes... I'm a baseball fan and during this off-season I was thinking about my team and the irony of it in relation to my atheism. You see, I'm a LA Angels fan. I've never really thought of my Angels as literal Angels because they don't have an Angel mascot or anything, but still, that is their name and I found it kind of ironic. Does anyone else have anything they like that conflicts with their beliefs? Maybe a San Diego Padres fan :) or band, movie, book, etc
You might want to make a confession of your sins against Atheism here.
Haha, thanks Reggie. I see you've thought about this before!
I'm in the U.S. Midwest and my vernacular is colored by religion. I've resigned myself to saying "bless you" to people who sneeze.
Welcome to T|A!
I've actually said "No thank you" to people who say "bless you". I've since stopped because I felt like a dick when I did it. I know there are no evil spirits evacuating my body though.
"You've got irony in my atheism! You've got atheism in my irony! It's... delicious!"
I tend to hum Christmas carols a lot during December. I could care less about the religious implications, I just enjoy the music.
This is one of my new favorites. These guys are awesome. Check out Carol of the Bells too.
This is the Christmas greeting I send my theist friends.
Sorry Jean Marie http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SXh7JR9oKVE
The first comment on utube says enough. Glad you liked. My theist friends get confused when I do stuff like that. I just say Atheists have a stronger appreciation of "Art".
I hear what you're saying Jean, but I wouldn't say I have a choice in naming the days of the week!
You missed the point of this discussion.
That's what I'm talking about. :)
