Apparently, this ad has sparked a lot of racist posts on the Youtube, Reddit, and Facebook.
While not wanting to side with the racists, I do wonder ow long it will take for there to be an ad with a white dad and a black mom, and if there's some subliminal racism going on in this ad and in the fact that one NEVER sees the white man/black woman combination.
Also, you may not be aware that many blacks are very uncomfortable with interracial adoption (where two white parents adopt a black child), despite the fact that there aren't nearly enough black adoptive parents for black orphans.
Oh for fucks sake. 99% of those comments are probably 4chan trolls, and the rest Stormfront.
The most blatantly offensive thing in this commercial is the fact that it's a commercial and hence insulting to the intelligence of anybody with the mental capacity of a turnip. Are cheerios good for your heart? Well it says here on the box that hablablabla. The implications of that are so massive it should be the only point sparking outrage. Not only is the mother depicted as a clueless goat falling for lies written on a cereal box, the commercial assumes everybody watching it is just as much of a clueless stupid fucking animal who believe everything they read and hear.
Also the kid kinda looks like she's on the chubby side, might wanna stop feeding her that sugary heart medicine, mommy.
Sounds like you're your usual, chipper self this morning, k!

Sounds familiar. People who are not affected want to have an input because they feel morally outraged when third parties express love in a way that doesn't fit their stereotypical perspective.
The UK has many commercials featuring mixed race couples - we barely notice them. What's the big deal?
In the UK, is the preponderance white women/black men or is it about equal both ways?
It's about equal, I'd guess from what I see around when I'm there - but I can't be certain because I simply don't notice skin colour in couples. One in ten kids are of mixed race in the UK, and that's growing constantly. It's just not an issue there.
RE: "I simply don't notice skin colour in couples" - only in letters!
And numbers... that's colour synesthesia for you
I think he was pointing out your silly and extraneous "u" in color. :P
Laughs, you think? I'll pluck his tail feathers for him if that's true :)
No, Sagacious - and this is no joke (for a change) - Strega actually sees letters and numbers in various colors - or in her vernacular, colours.
And you, Strega, can just leave my tail feathers alone! How would you like it if I hid your broom?
