he's been condemned by the French and German governments for his comments on condoms. Vatican insiders say he's a disaster. a recent survey says almost 50% of French Catholics want the pope to step down and 80% want the pope to change his stance on abortion, divorce, and homosexuality.
so yeah, i would say many Catholics do a major facepalm when Darth Ratzinger opens his cake hole and spews his vomit.

Does this mean that cigarettes cure cancer. I wouldn't take anything the catholics say too seriously, after all, they didn't officially accept the ideas of heliocentricism until the mid 1800's.
