My wife and I currently donate to religious based charities, one is Worldvision, the other is a local Christian nonprofit that helps young men who have struggled drug/alcohol addiction. We have been donating to these groups prior to our "deconversion." I am happy with what they do overall, but I was wondering if there any non-religious equivalents to these charities. What other charities would you recommend?

Permalink Reply by John Kelly on December 8, 2011 at 3:56pm If you are going to donate to a Christian charity, WorldVision is a good one. It is usually one of the first worldwide responders to natural disasters or other situations. It also is not as heavy on the proselytization, especially in countries where proselytization is not welcome. The list that Robert gave though is excellent. Some of those on there are some of the first responders to disasters worldwide as well.
