If there are over 1.1 billion Catholics in the world and if only 10% of them were truly devout having lived their whole lives according to their beliefs.
That would give us around 11 million people. Thats about half the population of Australia. Thats a lot of people.
If it were suddenly revealed to them, by their Pope, that there is no God and there is no Jesus, how will they react? Many of them would become suicidal? There would be a global health crisis. Do we have the facilities to support 11 million traumatized people all at once.
I imagine that the feeling would be similar to one of us finding out that the person who we thought was our Mother, wasnt, and that person was just in your life to fool you.
Richard Dawkins said that if we were to teach evolution to every single new child born from now on, that it would take only one generation to rid the world of religious belief.
How else could religion be phased out?
