I have been doin a lot of reading as one of the things christians love to say if you point to the violance in the OT is "well look at Hitler and Stalin they wer Atheists , How many people did they murder?"

I never knew what to say to this, now after doing some reading including the Mein Kampf, reading the Richskonkordat, the contract with the Catholic church that Hitler signed and looking at his history, Hitler was very religious.

Interesting links to look at, what do you think about Hitler and religion and that Christians say he was an Atheist?

Fascism first appeared in force in the two most "catholicky" nations. And of course Emperor Hirohito was an "Arahitogami":an incarnate divinity.

Hitler's fanatical national socialism was opposed in principle to Stalin's atheistic communism thus it seems to me Hitler was opposed to atheism for tactical reasons as well as ideological. He had a fucked up view of natural selection and viewed Christianity as a religion for the weak but this doesn't negate the fact that he was still a Christian until his demise. He used the religion for power as he had the backing of the German Catholic church.

In one 1933 speech, he said that "To do justice to God and our own conscience, we have turned once more to the German Volk." In another he said: "We were convinced that the people need and require this faith. We have therefore undertaken the fight against the atheistic movement, and that not merely with a few theoretical declarations: we have stamped it out." Also in a letter to one of his generals he said ""I am now as before a Catholic and will always remain so".

Whatever he was, it's as plain as day that he wasn't an atheist.

So not an atheist.  An egotheist.  (where do you get this vile stuff?)

very interesting. So he saw himself as pretty much a god

I would say more as an instrument of god.

Hitler used Christianity as it was intended for from its creation. It is still used in this same Manor today around the world.

One more here

My answer would have to be: ja-ein. Or to translate, "no, yeah." Because I think that national political leaders often are personally atheist or agnostic but use religion as a political tool. I would imagine that Hitler was a psychopath and due to the policies he instated, he probably saw himself as god-like. Yet, as others have provided, his public stance on religion was that it should be part of the Third Reich. I have no direct evidence of his private beliefs to support my view.

"Who says I am not under the special protection of God?"
-- Adolph Hitler --

"Secular schools can never be tolerated because such a school has no religious instruction and a general moral instruction without a religious foundation is built on air; consequently, all character training and religion must be derived from faith ... We need believing people."
-- Adolf Hitler --
(April 26, 1933, from a speech made during negotiations leading to the Nazi-Vatican Concordat of 1933.)

"I trust God speaks through me."
-- George W. Bush --
(Oops! How did that get in there --?)

It really doesn't matter in terms of debate, Jorita - no one claims atheists to be perfect - I have no doubt there are atheist serial killers, as well as Christian ones. But if one wants to debate the subject, religion has been the cause of more human death and misery than any natural cause, one has only to look at the Old Testament genocides and the European Dark Ages to verify that.

thank you for those quotes

A good tool to use when people claim Hitler was an "Atheist"

Thank you I downloaded the lot, it will make for good reading
