I just wanted to say hello and properly introduce myself.  I am 38 and live with my wonderful husband in an eastern suburb of Atlanta.  My husband and I were both raised in Christian households (Baptist and Methodist), but he gave it up years before I did.  We haven't encountered problems with our atheism, but then we haven't always been open with everyone about it.

I am somewhat quiet, non-confrontational, and raised in the "southern" culture of trying never to be rude.  It is not my nature to offend, which is what led me here.  So far I've been impressed with how respectful everyone is with one another, and definitely looking forward to getting acquainted with all of you.  

On a side note, am I the only one feeling conflicted, politically speaking?  Does anyone else wish there was an electable, fiscally-conservative, socially-liberal candidate running for national office?  Pipe dream, I guess...
