I work for the rail road in Wyoming.  We haul coal every day to go to coal fired power plants.

So I guess my question is: Am I part of the problem just because of my job?  I could quit and go do something else I guess but what's the point someone else will just fill my shoes.

So what does everyone else do for a living and how does it affect the world?

I run coal trains as well.  Just think if that coal was transported by truck how much more fuel would be used.  If you stopped doing your job, yes somebody else would still do it and nothing would change except you would not have a job.  I find it easily justifiable to haul coal but still work for and support better methods for energy use and production.  Railroads are part of the solution, not the problem.
I think the problem is systemic and goes deeper than people simply working a job. I work in the printing industry. Gawd only knows how many trees I've gone through in a lifetime!
