I read this article and thought it would lead to some good discussion. Any thoughts?http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/05/31/kathleen-taylor-religious-...
All religious belief in a supernatural entity is a delusion. After that it is just a matter of degrees from what is defined as normal belief to what is the most fundamental, i.e. the most serious form of the delusion.
I have found a workable cure for it. It is called critical reasoning or critical thinking. It takes longer with some people than others but most can be “cured”. Some, unfortunately, are just too far gone and reason has no hope of entering their minds.
In which case, the patient should ideally be placed in a home where others can look out for the safety of the patient, which could become a danger to others and themselves. Examples include school shootings, abortion clinic killings, etc.
Under NO circumstances should a patient be elected into public office or given large amounts of power.
Oh but they do get elected and have power. And as a group they can be very organized, methodical and savvy in general. I listened to gospel radio for a while to try to understand them more, and I found out that, delusional though they may be, they are relentless in their attempts to convert the rest of us and to truly make the U.S a Christian nation. It worries me.
Just delusional disorder with a different name.
A psychological delusion with varying degree of insanity depending on how religious the person is.
