I was browzing the internet one day when I noticed that a certain site offers a full free online copy of On The Origin of Species by Charles Darwin. Besides feeling delight at this chance to read it myself... I thought... maybe this would be an awesome thing to direct a creationist to in debate? I mean... obviously they haven't read it... they probably won't read it anyway... but perhaps this could get someone's curiousity up. ^_^

Origin is available for free all over the internet as it's in the public domain. as for recommending it to creationists, honestly, Origin isn't an easy read. plus, Darwin uses artificial selection as an analogy, moving from that to natural selection in arguing that natural selection is plausibly the main mechanism behind evolution. he offers no real evidence that natural selection is in fact the main mechanism behind evolution. that's not his fault of course. that evidence just didn't exist when he was writing. that's why i still think you're better off pointing creationists to modern books that do include that evidence.

as for reading it yourself, i would absolutely urge you to. it's not only fascinating but it arms you with the knowledge to respond to creationist assertions like "Darwin questioned his own theory" or "Darwin himself pointed out that evolution couldn't explain the eye."
if you want to read it offline here's a pdf copy of Origin, plus copies of The Descent of Man and Voyage of the Beagle. :)
