Just saw someone post this:

"ever notice how society and morals started to fall apart right about the time God became optional"

As I think of an appropriate response, how would YOU respond?

That which doesn't exist, is not an option.

Yes, and I particularly notice how it was those who choose to believe in God that seem to have the greatest difficulty keeping their morals intact.
Ever notice how the Dark Ages ended and the Enlightenment began around the time believing in god became optional?

Wow, two priceless posts in one sitting. lmao! Today is going to be a good day :)
Technically, there a few centuries between those two periods. Mostly the Renaissance

Ever notice how the death rate in Hyderabad, India, from 1911 to 1919, and variations in the membership of the International Association of Machinists during the same period match very closely?

Correlation does not imply causation. Also, there is no correlation.

Ever  notice how people who say things like this are never able to refer to any specifics that illustrate their claim, or cite any sources to back it up?

Maybe you should point out how about 99% of the people in prison believe in god.
Not a good idea. It's a nice observation in a superficial way, but that's mostly because like in the outside world, religious prisoners are afforded special privileges. Time to go to services or additional material. Sometimes the only allowed reading is religious. There is a certain amount of pressure to convert.

"With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion."
