Exploratory commission for the Think Atheist Billboard.

So there has been some chatter about getting a billboard going. But I need your help! Where would be the best location to put a billboard? Cost is also another factor. I am leaning more to the 1,000 usd price point.

This is a quick snip-it of info about billboards:

Advertising on a billboard can be an effective and money-saving way for many people and businesses to advertise their services or products. Compared to other means of advertising, a billboard can be a very cost-efficient way to advertise. But how much does a typical billboard cost to put up, and is it really worth it? The cost of putting up a billboard can vary greatly. But the average figure can run anywhere from $600 to $2,500 a month. While it may sound like a lot, it is comparable to ads run in major newspapers or phone books. The biggest advantage is that a billboard is advertising for you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to a large number of people. In that sense, it is definitely worth the money to advertise on a billboard.
Billboard costs, of course, depend on what is on the billboard to begin with. The amount of information and graphics on a billboard will affect the cost, as well as how long you want the billboard in place. Typically, billboards are rented on a month-to-month basis. Technology has come a long way, however, in the creation of billboards. A typical advertisement is made on a computer, printed, blown up, and then glued to the billboard itself. Compared to the hand painting of years past, a timely and expensive process, it is a lot less costly to design a billboard today.

Currently I think this is the winner so far as what the billboard would say:

This may be a bit of a challenge, but I think we should pick a city that's most likely to have the most vociferous, negative reaction. Perhaps a major contrarian firestorm of publicity will take some of the oxygen out of their irrational arguments and get the message to geometrically more souls (pun intended).
Most of the South should qualify.
Attack the head of the talking snakes.. Irving, TX..capital city of "Trinity Broadcasting" the biggest sh!theads on the air 24/7/365 in every nation on earth to my knowledge except China and they might even be there..Irving is also headquarters of the corporate giants of the earth, Exxon/Mobile.. Please...don't go for what sounds like a "fun city"...go for BLOOD and dig the knife in so they have to run to the hospital gasping for breath!

One in every city or state that raises enough money to do it, and poll those places for the location of the billboard.
I like this "Maybe you Think Atheist" much better. I thought the "may" in the original was a little ambiguous/problematic.

And I think "Religion" might actually be better than "God" or "gods" also, because you are sweeping in more people. There are a lot of people who consider themselves without religion but who've not yet taken the step to atheism.

Also, I would omit the "www." from the URL on the billboard. Just use:
thinkatheist.com

Just a question: Are these billboards best placed where atheists are the most organized and can raise the most money? Or are these billboards more valuable in areas where atheists are most oppressed? Or are those generally the same places? I don't know the answer, just asking.
I was talking to Dan about this and he said put them in the south because they would cause more controversy which would mean news media and more exposure to the site as a whole. Perhaps we do a poll about this question.
Atlanta had one of the FFRF billboards a year or so ago. I don't recall a lot of controversy about it at the time, but I may have missed it.
How about here in Tulsa..near Oral Robert's University or Rhema Bible College??
I am the atheist , and I am oppressed.

Love this
Or even just change the "may" to "might."
About the "G/g" debate, I suppose it wouldn't matter horribly, but I'd have to lean toward lower case "g." Several things about the capital "G" stick in my craw.
