On my travels on the world wide web during my many debates with theists of all faiths, there are two terms in particular in which I see butchered shamelessly. These two terms are as the title of this topic states "Evidence" and "Truth"

What is evidence? Is it really as many theists claim "anything that is evident? I always thought that evidence is a collection of facts in which can be demonstrated and proved.

And is "truth" as many theists claim "any thing that is accepted as true". I also thought a "truth" must be supported with evidence in order to be accepted as truth and that a truth must be demonstrated.

How do you define evidence and truth?

Evidence: collection of information or data that is used to prove a theory

Truth: the proven theory with the evidence (no just writing your own book and referencing it doesn't count)
