I was working today (at Walmart) and some evangelical Christian woman comes up to my register and starts talking to me about Jesus and asks if I 'have a personal relationship with Christ' and I say no and she starts talking about Jesus has a plan for all of us and goes on for a few minutes. And I'm ringing up her stuff so I'm kind of stuck but feeling really uncomfortable. I can't be rude and be like 'You need to go to a different register because I do not want to deal with evangelicals talking to me about Jesus'.

There is a big difference between talking with friends about religion and this woman outright saying that I should seek a personal relationship with Jesus. I'm surprised that she didn't pray for my salvation then and there.

I was just wondering, what my fellow atheists do when dealing with evangelicals? I have never encountered evangelism at work before, but it is definitely not a pleasant feeling.

Haha. That might be a good way to go about it, Victor. I think George's response was pretty good too.. Such an awkward experience.
"Thank you, ma'am, but it is against company policy to discuss religion while I'm on the clock, and I really don't want to get in trouble (......again)"
I usually just stand there and listen. I've found that most people really just want to prattle on about Jeezus, and they don't actually care if I'm actively participating or not. I've never had a customer do that to me though, usually just co-workers, so they usually give up pretty quickly since they're not supposed to be discussing religion at work in the first place.
