I'm not talking about marijuana, I am talking about the hard-core drugs like Meth, Crack, etc. I am against drug usage but I have a question. What do you all think that proper punishment should be for abusers and dealers? (EDIT: I am meaning the ones that commit crimes while on the drugs or the ones that commit crimes to get the drugs. And should the dealers be just as accountable because they provided them with the drug?)
I recently watched a documentary about meth, and the officials in Thailand have simply killed off many of the users.
I personally know quite a few meth addicts here in the U.S. that, after serving their sentence for being "busted", have returned to drug abuse. Obviously, rehab and prison isn't working.
According to the website ncvc.org, 81% of crimes are drug-related. What, in your opinion, is the best solution for punishment and what can our authority figures do to get things under control?

Permalink Reply by Thomas Aldrin on June 13, 2011 at 4:16am Best solution is to legalize drugs, and thus removing the need for dealers and crime to get your fix.
Otherwise i think the best "solution" still is rehabilitation and other treatments, unless you have hurt somebody - then you need some hard time,.
Permalink Reply by The Doctor on July 5, 2011 at 3:52pm I agree with thom. Arguably any miss use of harmful addictive substances (Alcohal,Tobacco, even Caffeine for that matter..) is not "good" yet that is legal. The argument could be made that "hard drugs" are more addictive/harmful which is just a cop out in my opinion. More people ultimatly are harmed by prohibition. In the 1930's the American government got the bright idea to ban alcohal, what did that accomplish? Organised crime and an unsafe black market ditrubution with traces of lead in the product.
it is hard, personally i feel it that some drugs are really simply well i would say harmless but i mean less damaging like alchol like of course weed and is often potrayed as extremely dangerous, when in reality its not. I mean the only so called drug i use is well Marijuana, so i can have first hand experince when speaking about this drug. Its a hard topic indeed.
