I'm not talking about marijuana, I am talking about the hard-core drugs like Meth, Crack, etc. I am against drug usage but I have a question. What do you all think that proper punishment should be for abusers and dealers? (EDIT: I am meaning the ones that commit crimes while on the drugs or the ones that commit crimes to get the drugs. And should the dealers be just as accountable because they provided them with the drug?)

I recently watched a documentary about meth, and the officials in Thailand have simply killed off many of the users.

I personally know quite a few meth addicts here in the U.S. that, after serving their sentence for being "busted", have returned to drug abuse. Obviously, rehab and prison isn't working.

According to the website ncvc.org, 81% of crimes are drug-related. What, in your opinion, is the best solution for punishment and what can our authority figures do to get things under control?

I'd dearly love a job I could do stoned - thats how I exist but I reckon my idea of stoned doesnt quite hold the terror which various established religions reserve for it - I did a university course stoned, I worked at various prestigious organisations stoned - they thought it important to accept me - I thought otherwise............

artist, writer, I dunno there must be something being stoned makes a person good at it.

Dancing in the rain?

Lots of the bartenders around here drinks and smokes weed at the job. The owner is usually one of them, quite often the guy who sells drugs. Harms no one.

But I am given responsibility of potentially millions of dollars every day, and I owe my employer and coworkers the respect of doing the job sober. It's really the same respect I show them by not smoking cigarettes at indoors at work either. I don't immediately promote whatever bad habits I may have in every situation.

I dont even step out of my own front door stoned - its mad the stuff they pin on us
cycling into the  city on a summers morning is above and beyond any kinda pay scale - why do people get so lost on the financial side of reality..... beats me...........
I ask that question every day :(

Because I have very, very, very expensive training to pay for.

I can't pay for that training without money.

I think theres very little in life thats so important that you cant stop to smell the roses once in a while - we all need money, of course we do and its a darned relentless task most of the time but all work and no play and all that......  my own training was extremely expensive but it helped to let my hair down once in a while - thats all I know......
Oh.. I totally try to do my part by limiting any and all sobriety after 5 pm.
:)
same idea, but as a shift worker, my 5pm is flexible
HA! I used to limit sobriety after night fall... that is before I landed in the land of the midnight sun!

ya, sitting in the tower I just had to pull down the blinds, at 9:25 at night.  I 'll walk the doggie on the beach at 1AM to watch the sunset.

Maybe even contemplate whilst I walk:)
