I was wondering how those people come up with this kind situation in their life, choosing an option where you don't like both of it, losing someone, your wife just to save the baby..

dilemma (Greekδί-λημμα "double proposition") is a problem offering two possibilities, neither of which is practically acceptable. One in this position has been traditionally described as "being on the horns of a dilemma", neither horn being comfortable. This is sometimes more colorfully described as "Finding oneself impaled upon the horns of a dilemma", referring to the sharp points of a bull's horns, equally uncomfortable (and dangerous).

The dilemma is sometimes used as a rhetorical device, in the form "you must accept either A, or B"; here A and B would be propositions each leading to some further conclusion. Applied incorrectly, it constitutes a false dichotomy, a fallacy.

I'm confused, what is the dilemma up for discussion?

If I understand your question correctly then my answer is life.

Wait - there's a question in there?

well there was the "I was wondering" bit but yea. You are right. There is no question mark.

Que?

A situation where you'll need to choose between a mom and baby? but that was just an example for this discussion.

Is this an attempt at starting an abortion debate?

If it isn't in a child birth situation I'd call it a false dilemma, as in most cases both could be saved.

If it is in childbirth, the mother must be saved

let say you were with your mother and wife on a sinking boat, who will you choose to save? and why?

sorry my grammatical arrangement, not my first language..

It's really not a dilemma, in my opinion. I would go for both, and if I fail I will at least have tried

When you say "I was wondering how those people come up with this kind situation in their life". Don't you think it might be better to inquire "those people"? I'm not trying to be rude but perhaps if you ask if anyone has ever been in that situation before and how they dealt with might be closer to the mark.

have you ever been in this situation in your life? and what kind of dilemma is it? what happened after that?

now this is a question..

I would say that it is an utterly tragic dilemma that I have never been in and would not want to be. Some might call it a "moral dilemma" but since I've never been that situation I would refrain from using that exact terminology. Sorry I can't be of more help.
