most people are to stupid to know whats right (not moral right, but the most correct logical answer). Should they still have the power to dictate the lives of others? The other side is should more intelligent people have complete control, "absolute power corrupts absolutely"
I posted a discussion similar to this a while back about why people tend to vote against their own best interests. While I do agree that people who can't name the three branches of government have no business voting, I don't think doing away with democracy in exchange for a geniocracy or noocracy is the right answer. Instead of forbidding ignorant people from voting or holding office, we should attempt to educate people so they are capable of making informed, logical decisions. I believe that adding critical thinking classes to each state's curriculum and promoting reading outside of the classroom would greatly increase the intelligence of the country. Of course, that's just wishful thinking.
