I have been noticing that some Christians if not all sometimes act like children. When in a heated debate they will use sarcasm or they will accuse you of doing or not doing something. Here are a few examples from a debate I am currently having with once again Larry. This time it's about there being a face on the moon:
I am not the only one seeing the face, this is told about as far back as a person can go. All the childrens books from days gone by tell of the face on the moon. Yes there most certainly is a face on the moon. I hope every thing is going well for you. Larry
You can look tonight and try real hard not to see it. I am not confused, I see the face everytime cause its always facing earth every full moon. But if you try real hard you can refuse to see it. Many people refuse to see anything they don't want to reject. So I'll give you a warning, Please don't look at the moon it could be not so good for you. Larry.
p.s. please don't look when its out.
I believe what I see with my eyes more so then off what is on the laptop. You do have a good imagination to think I am so weak minded, But hey what ever floats your boat. I do wish you knew me better. You assume I believe everything I read when that is what you are doing. Try a little research on your own . Larry
p.s. If you do look at the moon, make it very quick, cause you might see it, and that would destroy everything.
Wow I'm so glad your are coming from a view of education. I would like to see the documentation on the Hallucinating Desert Dwellers, That sure ain't silly. Please send me the statistics of the actual strength of the moons magnetizm. Larry
As you can see he acts like a child when told there is no face on the moon. And here is one more only this is when I say there is no evidence that god does or doesn't exist. Of course saying that might be a no no:
Just because you refuse to look does not mean there is no proof, You have to look. Just be honest and say you don't want God. Peace to you! Larry.
What do yinz think of this and what more can I say to him?
Black on grey is unreadable!
@Doug When people use funky colours I highlight the whole post, which creates an artificial white background against which the letters show well.
Oddly enough it actually shows well on my screen, different color for every paragraph.
That is because I changed the coloring.
White for you, blue for me.
Whenever I look at the real full moon, I see a big smiley face which might as well be smoking a doobie. I don't see it when I look at a photo of the moon.
I think atheists act like children a lot of the time, in debates. Half the time I see Christians acting a lot more adult in their websites. But then, hey, it depends what content you're looking for. Christians do well in the moral spiritual arena, atheists do better on the pure logic and reason.
Christians like Hitler or all of those lovely popes from the past few centuries? (I know that is a low blow.) But your claim that Christians do well in the "moral" spiritual arena is just a big fat lie. I have felt more "spiritual" feelings (positive well-being and warm kinds of emotions) since becoming an atheist than I ever did as a believer.
I also feel a great love and kinship with ALL of humanity and nature now and not just the "chosen" ones that were in my "special" group. That feeling of connection with all humans (even the dumb ones like me) has been amplified since I know that we are all in this together and that no god will bail us out.
We have to work together in the here and now for life to be worth living. I don't look forward to death or some kind of "afterlife"with glee like Christians and others do. I think that atheists do better on morals, "spirituality,"sex, (wonderful, guilt-free sexy stuff) pure logic and reason as well as nearly everything else. (I'm obviously biased)
We can enjoy the best of all possible options because we are free to choose the better things and reject the insane or harmful things that anyone (or imaginary people) tries to foist off on us. I wish you well in your small slice of reality and hope you open up more in the future. Life is much greater on the free (and usually smarter :P hahaha) side of the street. :)
You're far from dumb, Nate - surely you don't really believe that.
"But your claim that Christians do well in the "moral" spiritual arena is just a big fat lie."
Of course, this is a matter of opinion, and any generalization is always going to be basically untrue. I'm just speaking as I find. Whenever I see a load of crap, I just pass on by. There are two Christian sites I like and certainly one of them engages in original thought in these areas. Every atheist site I have looked at attempting to deal with these issues - in a formal way - is just a load of fucking twaddle. As far as actual "quality" (sorry for that word) and likeability of the people, I feel the two groups are equal. Thoughtfulness and integrity are to be found equally in abundance in both groups.
Christians do well in the moral spiritual arena
Lets see, a christsian Europe finally emerges from the religious dark ages with a technological advantage and proceeds to conquer, enslave, convert, steal from, and decimate every other culture in the world, using the bible as their guide. Try holding Christians responsible for what they have done, not what they say ( or the polite way they say it.) Christians are experts at sweet talking with their fake ass smiles while secretly they are still trying to conquer our governments. It is ironic how the very cultures they have enslaved and converted have become their majority. That was the plan, and it worked.
"When the white missionaries came to Africa they had the Bible and we had the land. They said 'Let us pray.' We closed our eyes. When we opened them, we had the Bible and they had the land."
-- Desmond Tutu --
Exactly Arch, and it's all OK, they will be forgiven in the next world. It's the perfect plan and the secular humanist has little to offer but the truth.
