Christianity In Public Schools

So follow the link above and you will find what the morons in my county value the most. 1st, I'd like to thank the Freedom From Religion Foundation in Wisconsin for following thru with doing something about this. I don't know how they found out about a backwoods county in South Carolina, but I'm sure glad they did. It is a wonderful thing that some people are able to speak out.

What more can we do about things like this? I'd love to hear stories and ideas! Thanks!

Schools in the US are terrified of lawsuits. It hasn't been so long ago when Jehovah's Witnesses were beaten and harassed unmercifully for refusing to Pledge Allegiance To The Flag, a prayer. There is a great deal of precedence from today's atheist community for their legal struggle.

Make noise. Complain back. Be heard.

Unsurprising, but disturbing to see the unthinkingly hateful comments there. Teacher-sponsored prayer abounded at the public high school I went to. It really gave authority to the awful things the bigoted students were telling me to believe. Better for everyone if they let prayers at school remain a personal matter for each student or teacher and avoid group prayer activity. They would not like it if it were a Muslim prayer or (lol) pagan.

Exactly. And speaking of the comments there, someone wants to know the identity of the one that complained. Why else would they want to know other than to retaliate against that person.

Lock and load!

I love this attitude!

I find it saddening that such a large number of people in America can't define the difference between private and public schools. The comments of the christian people below the article astound me and the answer is plain and simple. There are already schools set up that are run by the church send your children to them.

Wisp you are very right if the prayer were muslim, pagan or any other religion the christians would be suing the school so damn fast but to take their prayer out infringes on their god given rights.

If I were only interested in being a 'one term principle', making other prayers during the school day might be fun. Creating a stink could be a real teaching moment...

Precious, how they compare FFRF to Westboro Baptist Church!

The comments under that article are extremely frustrating.

"The constitution guarantees freedom OF religion not FROM it."

And I deal with them on a daily basis. The "Carolyn Head" that commented on the blog is a friend of my family and has been forever. She's on my facebook haha. So yes, the people of my community are disturbing.
