Can you believe in Christ and still have good judgement?

I'd be interested in hearing what people have to say about this, I wrote a longer piece on my blog but the basic issue is that I've met atheists who had their head up their ass and Christians who seemed really brilliant. So what do we make of the possibility of people who are wrong but wise?
