Baptist Minister (and former second vice president of the Souther Baptist Convention) Wiley Drake reportedly said that he is offering an “imprecatory prayer” for the death of President Obama. Full article:
What a loon. It use to be that their god commanded 'em to kill their enemies, even helped 'em in the process. Why put the burden on their god? He should just try to do it himself. To place an assassination attempt from his god is pretty much threatenin' the president himself. Hopefully the minister gets 25 - Life for this.
The secret service has got a job to do. This is a clever way to tell people to go get the president, without actually telling them to get the president. If he rephrased just slightly and rather than praying, told his congregation to do this...I suspect the response would be different. I think it's his right to pray for this, but wonder if it's his right to publicly say it. He's using our overly sensitive treatment of all things religious to insight violence. "I didn't tell my congregation to do anything, God used that member for His purpose."
I didn't realize that God was for hire as a hit-man. And don't those imprecatory prayers sound a lot like voo doo?
