He's been making the rounds promoting his book Zealot, which is a study of Jesus and the time he lived in. Funny but he admits that no one who wrote the Gospel ever met Jesus. That the books attributed to Mark, John, and Peter were written by others but, because of the practice at that time, were penned as if Mark, John, and Peter actually wrote them.

He is Iranian and a convert to Islam. He came her with his family in the '80's when it was taboo to say you were Iranian. He use to say he was Mexican. He holds a doctorate in Religion and sounds very convincing right up until he admits that he actually believes in dieties.

In his book he looks at Jesus as more revolutionary than Devine. May pick it up.

One side note. In his effort to assimilate into American society he became and evangelical christian at the age of 15. He's studied Christianity, Islam, and all the others and holds a PHD in Religion. Interesting fellow.

Here is a link to one of his interviews:http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/07/27/reza-aslan-fox-zealot_n_36...

(The Huffington Post Interview is a lot more informative than the Fox interview. Although the Fox interview makes for great comedy)
