One gas station owner here in South Carolina has a digital readout on all of his pumps that says "One nation under god. If you don't like it, LEAVE!" Sadly, it isn't the first time we've heard this. Many Americans also want immigrants and gays to leave as well.

What is with my state? Just last month, we had a woman hang and burn a dog because it chewed her bible. It really pissed me off and I started a petition because I fear that she is going to receive undeserved lenience. I've heard people around here say things like "what if god really did tell her to do it?". I can't help but think she will be sentenced with the same delusion in mind. The ignorance here amazes me. Btw, if you haven't signed my petition, here is the link http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/woman-hangs-and-burns-dog/
Back to the subject. Christians really believe that they run this country. It is aparent that they want atheists out of it. How can we show them that this is not a Christian nation? We have quoted statements from our founding fathers, we have argued about separation of church and state, we have rejected creationism in our classrooms, and Obama has even stated on several occasions that this is not a Christian Nation. What else can we do to convince Christians that this is a country for everyone?

Permalink Reply by Mo Trauen on February 17, 2011 at 11:50am That's not common sense. That's religious style punitive thinking. She has already done the damage. Hurting her now wouldn't do any good. Common sense says to find a way to deal with it that makes the situation better, not worse.
The reason so few people seem to have common sense or logic skills is because of the pervasive religious brainwashing, which teaches them bad logic, bad "facts", and bad ideas. Of course, I am sure that there are a number of people who would still be "uncommon" in their ability to reason badly, but getting rid of the brainwashing would help.

Permalink Reply by Mike Decaro on March 4, 2011 at 4:16pm Next time you visit that Gas Station ask him to find the words "God", "Lord" or "Jesus" in our nations Constitution. They are not there!!!!!! This country was not founded on the christian religion or any religion there of.
Permalink Reply by SteveInCO on May 29, 2012 at 7:54am Well "Lord" does appear in "In the Year of Our Lord" which is religiously meaningless. But try telling them that.
Ask them to find "God," "Jesus" and/or "Christ." I did that once on line and some fucktard triumphantly pointed to the world "Lord" in the phrase I mentioned above and said "see I win" just like the pigeon playing chess.
Permalink Reply by Licensed to Ill on March 6, 2011 at 10:52pm I have a feeling that someone in Congress will attempt to pass an amendment to usurp the establishment clause of the 1st amendment. The same people who proclaim to want to uphold what the founding fathers started will no doubt look to change what they feel was a mistake.
As far as convincing Christians is concerned - I don't see it happening. I think the best route is to galvanize like minded non-believers and parishioners of different faiths into action.
Permalink Reply by TDM on March 11, 2011 at 9:47am we can embrace science and facts and promote the use of technology. we see how technology has helped people overcome oppression in other countries lately and this is a wonderfull sight to see. the way i see it is that at some point we will start saying things like " christian mythology " and call it what it is.. i doubt 3000 years ago the greeks called their religion mythology, but today we do, so the same should happen with the christian crap as well..
i just wish it would hurry up... technology will speed this process up dramaticly
