One gas station owner here in South Carolina has a digital readout on all of his pumps that says "One nation under god. If you don't like it, LEAVE!" Sadly, it isn't the first time we've heard this. Many Americans also want immigrants and gays to leave as well.

What is with my state? Just last month, we had a woman hang and burn a dog because it chewed her bible. It really pissed me off and I started a petition because I fear that she is going to receive undeserved lenience. I've heard people around here say things like "what if god really did tell her to do it?". I can't help but think she will be sentenced with the same delusion in mind. The ignorance here amazes me. Btw, if you haven't signed my petition, here is the link http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/woman-hangs-and-burns-dog/

Back to the subject. Christians really believe that they run this country. It is aparent that they want atheists out of it. How can we show them that this is not a Christian nation? We have quoted statements from our founding fathers, we have argued about separation of church and state, we have rejected creationism in our classrooms, and Obama has even stated on several occasions that this is not a Christian Nation. What else can we do to convince Christians that this is a country for everyone?

I think it Dexter would be funnier if he were Catholic.

I'm not sure Dexter is a good "atheist role-model" LOL

Actually, if you look at it deep enough, he kind of is.  He's an atheistic sociopath with a conscience.  Something that xians claim is not possible, since their morals come from god.  Although, you would have to spend all day explain it to them.  LMAO

I haven't watched Dexter in a while, but after watching some of the episodes I came to the conclusion that he wasn't a true psychopath.  He is clearly somewhere on the anti-social personality disorder spectrum, but his love for his adopted sister, his affection for his co-workers, his rudimentary moral code, etc., indicate that he has the basic building blocks of morality.  The blocks were never stacked in the normal manner, however.  They were scattered by the trauma of witnessing his mother's murder.  I have known people who went through less than that yet seemed more psychopathic.

The episode where he killed his older brother was instructive.  He couldn't kill his adoptive sister when his older brother urged him to because of his fondness for her.  He felt he had to kill his older brother because the event they witnessed had turned him into a more monstrous and dangerous personality.  In other words, Dexter didn't do it because of his compulsion but for moral reasons, and he cried uncontrollably when he did it because he understood the personal and moral tragedy he was playing out.

I stand in awe of your character analysis! :)
I am rapidly discovering N.C. is not much better, I shudder when i think work might move me to S.C.
You need to move north, my friend.
Ha!
LOVE IT! I have been marking out "in god we trust" with a sharpie on my dollaz for about 2 years now :p I don''t think I've ever gotten one back, so it has to be annoying for the bank to have to pull these if that is where they are all going.
A few years ago I realized that the dead politician on our 5 dollar bills (I'm in Canada) looked exactly like Leonard Nimoy.  On boring afternoons in my restaurant I would draw some pointed ears on him and then sort of scribble Spock hair, typically on a few bills.  Maybe it was just because it was a small town, but I started seeing these bills everywhere in town and got them in my change a few times.
Awe, man.  That's beautiful.
I WISH I could move to Sweden.  But those Scandanavian countries supposedly have very strict immigration policies.

Actually, simply put all you need is a job offer which requires some skillset you have. As long as the employer says you are the best qualified candidate for the job, you can get a work permit (if you are from a Western country). In a gym I went to in Oslo 8 out of 14 personal trainers were Americans.
