One gas station owner here in South Carolina has a digital readout on all of his pumps that says "One nation under god. If you don't like it, LEAVE!" Sadly, it isn't the first time we've heard this. Many Americans also want immigrants and gays to leave as well.

What is with my state? Just last month, we had a woman hang and burn a dog because it chewed her bible. It really pissed me off and I started a petition because I fear that she is going to receive undeserved lenience. I've heard people around here say things like "what if god really did tell her to do it?". I can't help but think she will be sentenced with the same delusion in mind. The ignorance here amazes me. Btw, if you haven't signed my petition, here is the link http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/woman-hangs-and-burns-dog/

Back to the subject. Christians really believe that they run this country. It is aparent that they want atheists out of it. How can we show them that this is not a Christian nation? We have quoted statements from our founding fathers, we have argued about separation of church and state, we have rejected creationism in our classrooms, and Obama has even stated on several occasions that this is not a Christian Nation. What else can we do to convince Christians that this is a country for everyone?

It's amazing how many people have no problem at all with discrimination until it affects them directly.  If it said "One Nation under God. Be a Roman Catholic or leave!" Then the protestants would finally see a problem.  Same in reverse.  Or substitute any other subset of christianity or other religion.  So long as the discriminated group isn't them personally however, its all good (and even a "good message").

I know if I'm ever in your state, I won't be purchasing gas there.

People like that disgust me.
Who are they to judge who belongs in this country?

They don;t judge, their god does.  And it just so happens that their god agrees with them.
I signed the petition. I wish they would have interviewed me. " I don't care about the message, I just need some gas.. and there are no other places around to get it". I would say that, just to be somewhat funny.
Could you imagine if we all went to a medium sized country?  one country would have 93-95% of the American Academy of the Sciences, as well as all of the other brilliant scientists, novelists, philosophers, entertainers, inventors, and entrepreneurs. it would cause that country to go into a renaissance, while the USA would be a cultural and scientific wasteland.
An excellent point.  Too bad most of this brilliant elite is too tied down by theistic family and opportunity to leave for a foreign land.  Why, it would take Nazis to initiate a mass exodus of such brain power.
I dunno about Nazis.  Remember that the 'zi' in Nazi refers to socialism, which isn't an American forté.  Still, there is another word that combines well with American ultra-nationalism.  I dub them the Nasshole party.
Oh, any amount of social concern is Socialism these days.
Sozialismus was Nazi for Faschismus.  :-)  Fascism continually threatens to make itself an American forté. :-(
most people do not understand that many aspects of american culture, such as our tv shows (Futurama and the Simpsons, Family Guy and American Dad, the UFC, curb your enthusiasm) and computer software (the other Steve from Apple, Bill Gates) are brought to us by non-religious people
Yeah?  I guess Sunday morning prayer won't be affected too much.

I find it quite interesting how much atheism is part of US prime time shows. In addition to the ones you have listed, other shows with atheist protagonists include House, Bones, CSI, Community, Castle, Lie to me, Dexter, Numb3rs, Fringe, etc etc.

I send Hollywood my thanks.
