There has been a post about this on another site, and if I remember correctly, atheists were more likely to be cat people. There were theories on why that is, but just out of curiousity, how does everyone on this site feel?

Personally, I love all animals, but if I must pick one, I would say I am more of a cat person. They are not as needy as dogs and you have to earn their love and trust. But they both make great pets :)

I'm a Cat person. Some people really like dogs, but I cant stand the way most of them smell.

I prefer dogs.

I remember looking into a cat's eyes and making a mad face, and she wanted to jump on me and scratch me. This happened 3 times in a row, before she ran away when my three-year old niece was coming to "play" with her. I find that really strange. I haven't tried it yet but I'm curious why would the cat want to attack me just because I was looking mad at her.

By this I'm not saying that I don't like cats at all, but I prefer dogs and cats I prefer others to have them. :)

Cats are predatory by nature. Eye contact like what you describe  is just one of the innate tools that cats use to detect potential danger. Also, because you did this so closely to the cat's head (which is a major point of protection - just like us!), the cat may have thought you were engaging in play. But because you seem to not have any connection to the nature of what is 'play' for a cat, you think you were being seriously attacked by it. Cats can 'play' rough...you just have to know how to do it. It can actually be quite fun and bring out the predatory creature in us, which I call 'fun'. Your niece seems to 'get' it ;b

...... " my claw hand attack putty cat face... AAAARGH!!!

...... claw hand and putty cat make war!

...... claw hand puts up good fight, but retreats when confronted with putty cat superior weaponry!

...... claw hand has major flaw, is attached to human arm, putty cat face has back legs like kangaroo!

Much liked game by most putty cats :)

Hmmm... I forgot to mention that I was inside and the cat was outside, and the distance between us was at least 2 meters (6-7 feet). I have never played with that cat and it belongs to some, now former, neighbours of my sister.
Cats- less hassle over taking care of them, they are relatively independent, and suffice as good pets/companions.
Dogs. I'm terribly allergic to cats, so I guess I'm biased that way. :D

I prefer dogs, but that's probably just because I have an allergy to cats.

Still, allergy aside, I choose dogs. I used to have cats (which is how I found out I am allergic), and I never really liked the way they act. They're so quiet and sneaky. While dogs are just present and they like to show their presence to me. lol.

So dogs for me :)

Hi I prefer Dogs and I'm not an Atheist

What are you if you if you prefer bunnies or Monkies

I would say I am more of a cat person. The LOL Cats web site blows the dog version out of the water :D Also cats are a little more ninjaesqe... like me lol...
I had an Oriental Short-haired cat that was awesome. The rest of my cats were pretty stuck up though, so I would have to say I lean more towards dogs.

I love both in different ways.

My cat is cuddly and beautiful and is the sweetest, purring, softest thing. I love to just stick my face in her fur and smell her (she smells like flowers). I kiss her many times every day. Every time I sit down she wants in my lap and she buts her head on my face when she wants attention.

My dogs are like having a couple of horses in the house - SO MUCH trouble and mess but they got me wrapped around their fingers (I mean claws). They know how to do the "sad eye thing" to get me to bend when they want something. They are entertaining and funny and always underfoot like a couple of toddlers. You have got to really love someting to put up with all of that! lol
