Permalink Reply by Gallup's Mirror on December 22, 2012 at 7:11am Here's a bit of Classic Rock about atheism.
Artist: XTC
Track: Dear God
Permalink Reply by James Cox on December 22, 2012 at 8:03pm Dear 'God',
Did you make the plagues and bleeding pox?
Did you conceive the weapons of hell?
Did you think it cool to make the human soul to bleed?
Dear 'God' where you been?
Tell us how not to bleed!
Dear 'God',
The human soul looks out upon the creation,
The human soul does not find thee!
But wonders fill our eyes,
The human mind reels in wonderous complexity,
Still no signature of divinity,
Dear 'God' WHY?
I can't believe in 'you',
I can't find 'you',
Dear 'God' WHY?
The human soul moves on,
Seeking meaning in the little and great of things.
Dear 'God',
We can not find you in the little and the great,
The human mind kinds a grin of fleeting sacredness,
But the honest persuit of wisdom denigns us the sacred at every turn,
Dear 'God' WHY?

Permalink Reply by Justin Bain on December 22, 2012 at 12:22pm A few atheist bands I listen to, or at least the more obviously atheist bands are:
Tool/APC/Puscifer (I know this has been covered already)
NIN (another obvious one)
Karnivool (check out their album Sound Awake)
Cire/Emptyself (any of the albums, very Tool/APC influenced music)
Tigers on Trains (if you're into the acoustic/folk scene)
Another Breath (if you're into the hardcore/punk scene their album the God Complex is excellent)
Permalink Reply by Strega on December 22, 2012 at 9:25pm Every time I read this thread title, John Lennon's God plays in my head:-
God is a concept
By which we measure
Our pain
I'll say it again
God is a concept
By which we measure
Our pain
I don't believe in magic
I don't believe in I-Ching
I don't believe in Bible
I don't believe in tarot
I don't believe in Hitler
I don't believe in Jesus
I don't believe in Kennedy
I don't believe in Buddha
I don't believe in mantra
I don't believe in Gita
I don't believe in yoga
I don't believe in kings
I don't believe in Elvis
I don't believe in Zimmerman
I don't believe in Beatles
I just believe in me
Yoko and me
And that's reality
The dream is over
What can I say?
The dream is over
Yesterday
I was the dreamer
But now I'm reborn
I was the Walrus
But now I'm John
And so dear friends
You just have to carry on
The dream is over.
Permalink Reply by Umbra on December 23, 2012 at 5:10am I actually listen to some highly religious tunes because I like the music. Gregorian chanting for example. Anti religious tunes, I can't think of many bands that make it a habit of kicking against religion. I will sometimes ask for Lacuna Coil - Heaven is a lie to drive my point of view.
