Saw this on a blog today. It says the UN is trying to block speech that offends religion, specifically islam. This is the kind of crap of that makes me mad. The site I read it on is Great site to check out. I wish I understood what was going on in these peoples heads. Times like tho I'm proud to be an atheist.

This got covered in a fair amount of depth on last weekend's TA Saturday call-in talk.
Its been in-and-out of the media for the past month (or maybe a little more). [From my perspective] there are too many countries that are members of the UN and either islamic or sympathetic to islam. The whole resolution is veiled (pun intended) in "religious freedom" but when closely examined calls to revoke freedom of speech if that speech is negative toward any religion (most specifically islam).

Basically, by the US Constitution, it is illegal for the US to agree to this resolution. I'm highly highly doubtful that the US will even consider it; but my concern is what pressures the US might receive from the UN, and what fallout might occur. On the light end, the UN or those other countries will try to cast the US as an anti-freedom-of-religion nation or an anti-islam nation. On the extreme end of things, the US might abdicate from the UN.
