We've had this debate recently. It would be interesting to see what non-TA atheists have said about it.

I read that NY Times article a few weeks ago. I'm dubious of how much an atheist can achieve by being a dick. Yes, he/she can attract many fellow atheists but what about the theists? Somehow, I just can't believe we can make headway by turning off the people we're trying to reach. It seems counter-intuitive to me. Perhaps somebody else can lend a perspective on aggressive atheist tactics. I'd certainly like to know how in-your-face proselytizing would work any better for atheists than it does for theists.
