Hey everyone,

Hope you are all well. I got a call today from someone at BBC London radio, and they would like me to join a discussion on Sunday about the current issue that UK scouts are facing. Some of you may have heard about George Pratt, a young boy who was banned from joining the Scouts because he is an atheist, and therefore couldn't truthfully agree to do his "duty to God", which is a part of the Scout Promise. People from all other faiths have been able to join the Scouts for the last forty years, by replacing God with the appropriate term from their own religion in order to make the Scout Promise. But atheists have never been allowed to join.

This discrimination has gone on far too long as it is, and fortunately, the heads of the Scouts are now in talks in order to try and create a version of the Scout Promise for atheists so that they can join. This is great news, although it may take a while to incorporate it.

I've been vocal about it on Twitter (@tashagladwell) and so was asked to join the discussion. I'm really pleased to be asked to do this and give an atheist point of view on the matter. So, does anyone have any advice for me? Any tips would be greatly appreciated! I've done plenty of research on the Scouts in the mean time, as I was never a Scout myself (although I was a Brownie for a short time when I was very young).

Also, if anyone would like to tune in, it will be at 7:30am (GMT) on Sunday, 94.9fm :)

Thanks for reading!

Tasha.
