I think we go back to the idea people proposed after the 2000 or 2004 election. That we split North America into two countries. Yes, there would still be theists among us, but the politics would be soooo different. The country is so divided politically. Let's give the conservatives and religious nuts their country and we'll have ours. Sorry southern atheists, but you're welcome in our new country.

I too immediately thought of the Venus Project/Zeitgeist Movement. As far as I know, though, they're not doing much other that selling DVDs (I may be wrong).

 

I think a secular city/state/country would be better, and more about equality. Something like the beginnings of the USA. I don't think there is any land up for grabs nowadays, though, so one solution could be a floating city made of boats, floating platforms and perhaps artificial islands. As someone said, religion would have to be allowed but kept private.

Then as the population of the world gradually migrates to the new land, it can acquire new boats and platforms to house all the new people. Eventually, established countries that find themselves almost empty can sell their land to us or be absorbed!  :)

 

Hey, I just realised; What's being proposed is kinda the Anti-Vatican  :D

I was thinking about this myself. I think it would be a great success. You just need to find a plot of land big enough for the design and (conceivably) buy it from the government, or maybe Native Americans (hopefully we can set history right this time).
