A large dose of positivity....AND a double dog dare...

I am all about surrounding myself with positivity and remaining focused on GOOD healthy thoughts. After surviving any sort of hardship, or trauma it is easy to see the gray, but not see the light. It’s easy to become sad, hopeless, depressed, especially if you don’t have people there to support you in becoming a healthier person….But one of the things I learned is that THANKFULLY…you can actually RE-WIRE your brain!!!!!!  http://healmyptsd.com/education/ptsd-the-brain

It’s worth mentioning that this takes time and perseverance, but then before you know it you’ll see results! One of the things is to think about positive quotes or affirmations, particularly about yourself. This is counter-intuitive to what Christians teach. Christianity teaches self-loathing and self-denial. A dangerous combination with trauma. It took me a LONG time to become comfortable with allowing myself to think positively about myself. It was just..NOT something I thought I was “supposed to do.” I thought it would mean that I am not humble, or obedient…and it drove a lot of fear and anxiety…the last thing a survivor needs to feel!!

I just thought it would be cool to start compiling positive quotes. Then I thought, what good is that if I don’t share them? So here are some that I ran across recently, on facebook and other places, and LOVED! No…I didn’t attribute the authors, but if you find one you like just google it…that is my disclaimer…

Without further ado, here are some quotes…

  • Today’s mission: To be so busy loving life, that I have no time for drama, regret, hate, worry or fear.

  • A positive mind towards everything will give you a happier life.

  • I forgive people. It doesn’t mean I accept their behavior or trust them. It means I forgive them for me, so I can let go and move on with my life.

  • When a woman is loved correctly, she becomes ten times the woman she was before.

  • Sometimes it’s better to react with no reaction.

  • Be who you needed when you were younger.

  • Travel. As much as you can. As far as you can. As long as you can. Life’s not meant to be lived in one place.

  • Life has knocked me down a few times. It has shown me things I never wanted to see. I have experienced sadness and failures. But one thing for sure, I always get up.

  • #1 Secret to happiness: Be happy with where you are right now and make the absolute most of it.

  • The quieter you become, the more you can hear.

  • She made broken look beautiful and strong look invicible.

  • An enemy is better than a false friend.

  • Before you speak THINK

T = Is it True?

H = Is it Helpful?

N = Is it Necessary?

K = Is it Kind?

  • Don’t worry about being perfect; just be honest.

  • The mind will not always remember exactly what happened, but the heart will always remember the feeling.

  • Don’t look for a partner that is eye candy. Look for a partner who is soul food.

  • Never expect, never assume, never ask, and never demand. Just let it be. If it’s meant to be, it will be.

  • To be happy you must:

Let go of what’s gone,

Be grateful for what remains,

And look forward to what’s coming next.

  • We don’t stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.

  • The best way to avoid disappointment is to not expect anything from anyone.

  • Sunsets are proof that no matter what happens, every day can end beautifully.

  • Learning to ignore things is one of the greatest paths to inner peace.

  • She waits patiently through the storm for the life she knows she deserves in her heart.

  • Think like a man of action, and act like a man of thought

  • Man often becomes what he believes himself to be. If I keep on saying to myself that I cannot do a certain think, it is possible that I may end by really becoming incapable of doing it. On the contrary, if I have the belief that I can do it, I shall surely acquire the capacity to do it even if I may not have it at the beginning.

  • You can never cross the ocean unless you have the courage to lose sight of the shore.

  • When one door of happiness closes, another opens, but often we took so long at the closed door that we do not see the one that has been opened for us.

  • We don’t see things the way they are. We see things the way WE are.

  • Every problem has in it the seeds of its own solution. If you don’t have any problems, you don’t get any seeds.

  • If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

  • Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.

And one of my absolute FAVORITES!!....

  • Half of the troubles of this life can be traced to saying yes too quickly, and not saying no soon enough

CHALLENGE: I would be interested to know if any of these quotes you disagree with and why? I’m sure we could find philosophical fault with at least a few of them. So challenge them. Question them….and see what we might discover about them….go on...I double dog dare you!

Oh yah! I almost forgot! Please add your own favorite quotes for all to see! Thanks.

Think positive thoughts before you go to sleep.  They say, whatever you think about at that time gets etched into your brain overnight.  So try not to waste that time stressing out about stuff.

Here are some of my favourite positive quotes:

I'm a great believer in luck, and I find the harder I work, the more I have of it.

― Thomas Jefferson

Cos I, I am always hardcore
Because you are, I hope, always hardcore

from “Always hardcore” by Body Lotion & Neophyte

Failure ain’t the falling down, it’s the staying down.

― “A Marine Story”

The only failure is the failure to try.

― Mr T.

To share your weakness is to make yourself vulnerable; to make yourself vulnerable is to show your strength.

― Criss Jami

Change is the essence of life.  Be willing to give up what you are for what you can become.

― Unknown

from “Miss World” by Benjamin Zephaniah

Beauty is about how you behold
more than silver more than gold
if I say I am beautiful
it means beauty is accessible,
beauty is about how you greet
de everyday people dat you meet
you are beautiful so all rejoice
your beauty is a natural choice.

Only know that I love strength in my friends and greatness.

― James Liddy

I agree that it's positive to remember and be grateful for all the good things in your life, every day.
