I wonder what will be said in the pulpits of America being that it is the 4th of July and far too many people associate faith with patriotism. I know there is a church that recently had a lecture i missed called "Atheists attack on America" in a nearby town on Creation VS Evolution week which would have been very comedic.

With the Tea Party becoming more popular (at least here anyway) and God Bless America shirts sure to be on the pot bellies of the faithful has anyone heard of any "God & Country" sermons or more directly any "If you don't believe in God you're not patriotic." sermons?

Well, here in Utah the momo's are having their independence day on the 3rd, a saturday, because apparently if they do something on a sunday that doesn't involve studying scriptures the world will explode. I for one think the Fourth of July should be celebrated on the FOURTH of July, because that's the actual day of the event, and I'm pretty sure no one was celebrating independence they day before we gained independence. So, tomorrow I fully plan on running down the streets with sparklers and firecrackers and streamers because I don't give a damn about the sabbath and I want everyone to know it!
Yup, one of my cynical/borderline-atheist-but-still-christian friends went to a sermon called "Thank God for America".

And, off topic, the Washington Post published an article about atheists and July 4th:

That's a fun article-- thanks for sharing that!
